Chapter 1178

Denton and Marlon forced Moira, a beautiful woman in her forties, to kneel in a dimly lit room. A stack of cash was thrown in her face, escalating the tension. They pressured her into serving them, but Moira refused, her panic evident as she pointed toward the door, whispering, "My daughter is here too. Don't let her see this." No one listened. Marlon, focused solely on his own gratification, forced Moira to her knees. Denton watched, his agitation growing. Moira fought back fiercely, pushing Marlon away before opening the door and fleeing. In her haste, she tripped and fell down the stairs.

Skylar frowned at the vivid scene. Any woman would feel a wave of discomfort witnessing such an event. Some, emboldened by wealth, disregarded the wishes of others. Seeking revenge for her mother was entirely justified; Ursula, having lost her mother to similar bullying by the same men, understood this.

Skylar took a deep breath. Before leaving, she instructed Vera to contact Ursula, mentioning she knew the origin of the small pendant. She was confident this would prompt Ursula to seek her out. After Skylar's departure, Vera relayed the message. Ursula quickly lowered her head, concealing her startled expression, a change Vera, preoccupied with her own thoughts, missed. She hurried upstairs to find Denton, wanting answers about Moira's fall and what he and Marlon had done to the woman who had worked in their household for twenty years.

After leaving the Ruell Residence, Skylar drove to the location where she'd had fondue with Natalie the previous day. Parking, she stood by the roadside, observing the flow of people and traffic. A fleeting face from yesterdayโ€”a profile remarkably similar to Joe'sโ€”haunted her memory. The resemblance grew more striking with each passing moment.

Standing at the intersection, she watched the traffic lights change. The surrounding noise faded, leaving only the steady stream of vehicles. She knew her actions might seem strange, but the quiet observation brought her a sense of inexplicable peace. A phone call broke her reverie.

"Skye, are you coming home for dinner tonight?" Janine asked.

She checked her watch, realizing she'd been there for an hour. "Sure, I'll head home now," she replied.

"Take your time on the road, drive slowly," Janine cautioned.

"Okay," Skylar said.

After hanging up, she took one last look at the traffic before heading to her car. As she turned to leave, an MPV stopped at the intersection. Inside, Ned Sowle glanced out the window, his gaze falling on Skylar. Her alluring figure and flowing black hair captivated him instantly. Just as the light turned green, Ned abruptly commanded his driver, Brian Shelton, "Wait a moment."
