Chapter 1180

Vera said to Ursula, "Let's go for a walk."

Vera knew this wasn't the right place for a conversation. The other maids would soon return to rest. She had suspicions, but needed confirmation. Skylar's words hinted at something serious; otherwise, Skylar wouldn't have said it was beyond her control. Denton had always treated her well, and she couldn't stand idly by while he suffered.

A few minutes later, Vera and Ursula stepped outside the villa. The night was quiet. Ursula kept her head down. Vera, who had never truly noticed the maids before, now saw Ursula's beauty. At only twenty, she was vibrant and in the bloom of youth.

"Ms. Ruell, what do you want to ask me?" Ursula asked, uncomfortable under Vera's scrutiny, particularly from a Ruell. It reminded her of Denton and Marlon's bullyingโ€”that intimidating, suffocating feeling of inescapable terror. They had taken countless pictures and videos, threatening to release them if she spoke out. The police, she feared, wouldn't believe her; they'd assume she was upset about money or that she'd flirted with them. Fear and hatred warred within her.

Seeing Ursula's distress, Vera said, "Did your mother say anything before her accident? Don't be afraid. Tell me anything that's bothering you. I will help you."

The word "help" made Ursula bite her lip. Others had offered help before, only to cause harm. She didn't trust the Ruells.

"My mother said nothing," Ursula replied.

Vera frowned. Ursula knew nothing. To find answers, she'd have to question Denton and Marlon.

After dinner, Skylar returned to the Galaxy Villa. Vera's urgent call followed immediately. Her voice was filled with shock.

"Skylar, I just discovered something. My grandfather and uncleโ€ฆ they bullied Ursula's mother. Did you suspect this? Is that why you said their issues were unresolvable?"

Someone had sent her a USB drive. The videos and photos inside chilled her to the bone; nausea overwhelmed her. She'd suspected Marlon of having a mistressโ€”not unusualโ€”and some maids might seek money through relationships. But she never imagined Denton's involvement, or that they had bullied Moira, who clearly wanted nothing to do with them. The money scattered on the floor felt like a slap to the face.

Skylar nodded. "I knew."

"They were wrong, but they compensated Ursula with a million dollars. Ursula considered her mother's fall an accident and, after receiving the money, chose to stay. My grandfather and uncle were excessive, but not criminally so. I think they regret their actions."

Vera, though disgusted, didn't want to see Denton and Marlon punished to the point of losing their lives. Moira was dead; compensation had been made. They had suffered enough these past few months.
