Chapter 1181
Skylar's voice was calm. "Like I said, I can't help with this."
Vera responded quickly. "Skylar, name your price. My grandfather said that as long as you can help, you can ask for anything."
Skylar took a sip of water, remaining unmoved. "Vera, I don't need money. I won't involve myself in something so unethical. Tell your grandfather and uncle to consider what they've done. I'm sure you don't have the full picture."
"I've seen some of the videos and photos," Vera admitted, taking a deep breath. These family scandals were too disgraceful to discuss, yet they involved her loved ones. She couldn't remain passive.
"Did you see how they hurt Ursula's mother?" Skylar asked, her voice cold.
"Yes," Vera replied, taking another deep breath.
After a moment of silence, Skylar said, "Do you really think Ursula's mother was the only victim? I hope this is the last time you call me about your grandfather and uncle. Everything has consequences."
"Wait!" Vera exclaimed before Skylar could hang up. "Can you keep this between us? Please, don't tell anyone." The Ruell family couldn't endure another scandal. Public knowledge would be devastating.
Skylar's tone grew colder. "I have no interest in your family's affairs." Her only concern was Ursula. The pendant was a negative item and could harm her; the girl had already suffered enough.
Hearing Skylar's response, Vera relaxed. "I've been too narrow-minded. Sorry." She had been so shocked and disgusted that she hadn't fully considered the implications. Moira wasn't the first woman they had hurt. Given Denton and Marlon's apparent comfort with their actions, this was likely not an isolated incident. They had probably harmed others. This matter was difficult. Asking them directly wouldn't yield information; Denton and Marlon wouldn't cooperate. It was better for her father, Buck, to inquire and then determine how to address the issue with them.
Natalie instructed Andrea Poole and Hayden Walton to clean Sars Cafรฉ, assisting herself. A crew was due to arrive in half an hour for a night shoot. She had built a good rapport with Eddie and secured a small role as a cafรฉ waitress, earning some money and screen time. Tonight would be late, so she kept Andrea and Hayden on, offering substantial overtime pay. They would need to clean again after filming.
Exhausted after the cleanup, she leaned against the wall, pulled out her phone, and messaged Skylar: "Can you believe it? Besides earning money for the crew, I snagged a small role! Hahaha! I'm good at finding ways to make money. I won't let any opportunity slip by." She tossed her phone back into her bag.
Suddenly, the door opened. Hayden informed the newcomers, "I'm sorry, but we're closed."
"Closed?" Rosa exclaimed, surprised. Turning to Ned, she said, "Let's go elsewhere."
Natalie glanced toward the door, her eyes widening in shock. "Wait! Joe!"
