Chapter 1206
Upon seeing Lizzie's name on the caller ID, Skylar answered immediately.
โDid you see the news?โ Lizzie asked.
โYes, I just did,โ Skylar replied.
โWhatโs the deal with this Ned? He looks almost identical to Joe. If no one told me they were different people, I'd think they were the same person,โ Lizzie said, still in shock. It had been a long time since she'd been so surprised.
โI saw Ned last night at the charity gala mentioned in the news. He really does look exactly like Joe in person,โ Skylar added.
Lizzie hadn't expected Skylar to meet Ned and felt a surge of concern. โYouโre okay, right?โ she asked.
Skylar hadn't developed any new romantic feelings in three years; it was clear she hadn't moved on from Joe. Now, with someone who looked just like him appearing, all the buried feelings and memories would likely resurface. She understood this feeling intimately; it was something only those who had experienced it could truly grasp. For some, once feelings were locked away, they might never make room for anyone else.
โIโm fine. I see some people are already trying to stir the pot, dragging you and Vera into it. Are you facing any trouble?โ Skylar asked with a smile.
โNo trouble at all. I have a concert coming up in a few days, along with other performances, so this is great free publicity,โ Lizzie said nonchalantly. She welcomed the free promotion.
After chatting further, they ended the call. As Skylar hung up, another call came in from Natalie. Her questions mirrored Lizzieโs, but after reassuring her, another call came from Steven.
โAre you coming home tonight?โ he asked.
โMom is organizing a company team-building event, so Iโll be there with her and some employees. Were you worried about me after seeing the news about Ned, Steven?โ Skylar inquired.
Steven chuckled softly. โYouโve always been smart. Hearing you ask that means youโre fine. Ned really does look a lot like Joe.โ He held back his true feelings. Ned wasn't just similarโhe was almost a carbon copy.
Chapter 1207
After three long years, Steven felt relieved that Skylar had begun to heal from her emotional wounds. If a stranger suddenly appeared and stirred up her feelings again, it would have been better for her to wait a little longer before returning to Jipsburg.
โYeah,โ Skylar replied, her mind drifting back to Ned from the previous day. A person's gaze never lies. Regaining her composure, she recalled his look; there was none of the warmth she once knew. Instead, there was only chilling indifference. So, he wasn't Joe. If he were, he never would have looked at her that way.
Skylar snapped back to reality. โYeah, no one can hurt me anymore. Donโt worry, Steven.โ
By noon, they arrived at the dress design studio. The designer had been eagerly awaiting Minerva's arrival. Skylar lounged on the couch, enjoying the sight of Minerva trying on various dresses. Minerva had a fantastic figure, and the designerโs creations fit her perfectly, showcasing each gown's unique features. It was a visual delight.
โHow does this one compare to the last?โ Minerva asked, scrutinizing her reflection in the mirror, still unsatisfied.
Skylar walked over, nodded, and said, โI think this dress isnโt as nice as the third one you tried on earlier.โ
โI agree. The third one felt much more comfortable,โ Minerva replied.
