Chapter 124, Part 1

Joe arrived promptly at 5:00 p.m. to pick up Skylar. Shortly afterward, they arrived at Pearlhall Estate. Gloria was overjoyed to hear that Skylar had joined Alexander's team. “Skye, you’re incredible! You know that stubborn Alex never lets anyone push him around. He always shuts them down if people beg for favors or try to use connections to get on his team. But look at that, you made it on your own! Joe, have you noticed how amazing your wife is?”

Joe, sipping his water, glanced at Skylar, whose cheeks flushed pink. “Yeah, she’s pretty amazing.”

Skylar was surprised by his compliment. He was actually agreeing with Gloria. Usually, he would have given a curt nod or ignored the comment. Love certainly made him softer.

After dinner, they watched a reality show with Gloria, who eventually urged them to leave, insisting they enjoy their evening alone back at Galaxy Villa. Skylar knew Gloria was playing matchmaker and hoped their relationship would grow. She would have pretended to play along before, but now it felt wrong; she felt like she was coming between Joe and Annie.

On the way back to Galaxy Villa, Skylar handed Joe an earring. “Does this belong to Ms. Silver? I found it when we got out of the car earlier. I couldn’t give it to you sooner.”

Joe frowned. “Just toss it. I don’t need it.”

“Really? This belongs to Ms. Silver, and it looks valuable. She might want it back,” Skylar said, taken aback by his attitude.

“Do you know who Annie is?” Joe asked.

“I saw her in your car the other day. She’s a well-known host; lots of people know her,” Skylar replied.

Joe's reaction was cold. Since they were discussing Annie, Skylar decided to address the elephant in the room. “When are we getting divorced?” She assumed Joe wouldn't want someone he loved to be his mistress.

Joe shot her a sharp look. “What did you say?”

“When should we get a divorce?” Skylar repeated.

“Are you trying to end the contract early? What’s the reason?” Joe asked, his expression dark.

Chapter 124, Part 2

Skylar was taken aback by his tone. “I didn’t know you were in a relationship with Ms. Silver. If I had known, I wouldn’t have agreed to marry you.” Mistakes had been made, but as long as they stopped making them, that was all that mattered.

“Annie and I…” Joe began to explain when his phone rang.

“Where are you? Give me ten minutes,” Joe said into the phone. He hung up and turned back to Skylar. “We’ll talk about this later tonight. Don’t mention divorce again.”

“Okay.” Skylar knew this wasn't the right time to press the issue. Joe was probably concerned about Gloria's health and didn't want to upset her with the news.

The next morning, at the Williams Residence, Jeffrey was making phone calls, many of which went unanswered or were dismissed.
