The scandal had begun the previous evening and showed no signs of abating.

Claudio had issued a statement and sent legal notices, vowing to identify his accusers. However, this only spurred a flood of further evidence, including proof of illegal activities conducted through his company. Previously unknown in Jipsburg, Claudio had largely relied on his family name, the Martin surname, to exert influence. The news, however, completely lifted the bad mood Edwin's call had caused.

Skylar reasoned that Claudio must have deeply offended someone; the volume and nature of the evidence—including legal infractions—were impossible to fabricate overnight. This wasn't simply a case of personal animosity or a disgruntled woman seeking revenge. Skylar believed whoever was behind the exposé was doing a public service.

Soon, a photo surfaced showing Claudio being taken into police custody for questioning, lending credence to the allegations. After some time, Skylar put down her phone, reflecting on Edwin's earlier account of women and children haunting him, preventing him from sleeping. It seemed unlikely to be solely a matter of evil spirits.

As she pondered, sleep again claimed her. Awakening the next morning, she contacted Caleb, requesting his company on a visit to Edwin's house. Given Edwin's nature, vigilance was necessary, but she also needed to personally assess any possible supernatural elements. Recent events, and their possible connection to Joe's disappearance, demanded a thorough investigation; she couldn't afford to miss any clues.

Caleb arrived by car. Upon learning of Skylar's impending departure for Murida the following day—a trip she'd planned for at least a month—he slammed on the brakes. "Weren't you supposed to stay for at least a month? Why the sudden change?"

Skylar smiled. "Grandma hasn't been well lately, but I'll be back in two months."

News of Gloria's illness concerned Caleb, reminding him of his own grandfather's declining health in recent years.

They soon arrived at Edwin's villa. Before even entering, Caleb frowned. "It feels so cold here, Skylar. This place gives me a bad feeling."

Skylar handed him a red string bracelet. "Put this on." They had visited this place years ago, with Joe, and it hadn't held this unsettling aura. None of the neighboring villas emanated such a repulsive energy; it was unique to Edwin's.
