Chapter 1250

Over time, feelings might fade, and the initial insignificance of their differing statuses would likely become insurmountable obstacles.

Having been married before, Natalie understood the challenges she'd face if she accepted Austin's proposal. She might appear carefree, but she was acutely aware of the realities of their situation.

"How do you know we can't handle it, Natalie? I'm not Jeremy; I won't get involved in my family's business," Austin stated directly. From a young age, he'd understood that despite his family's influence and wealth, he had no desire to participate in it. He had his own dreams and the means to achieve them independently.

Natalie stared at Austin in disbelief as he continued, "Give us a chance." The sincerity in his eyes and the depth of emotion in his tone were unlike anything she'd seen before, a stark contrast to his movie roles. She sensed genuine feeling.

But she wasn't naïve. She knew why Austin had returned and made a point of filming at her café.

"Mr. Powell," she replied, "give me time to think." She then hurried from the room.

Austin watched the door for a few minutes, his eyebrows slightly raised, before reclining on the bed and closing his eyes.

The next morning, Skylar prepared a simple breakfast. As she neared completion, a series of thunderclaps rumbled.

She immediately set down her utensils and looked out the window. Heavy rain clouds darkened the sky, thunder echoed, and lightning flashed. The sky, even though cloudy earlier, was far darker than it had been when she woke. It now resembled the darkness of a nighttime sky.

She hadn't checked the weather forecast in days. This severe thunderstorm might bring torrential rain. She worried the weather might cancel her flight.
