Chapter 1252

Skylar's canceled flight to Murida had left her despondent. Knowing his sister so well, Charles sensed something more serious was amiss. Her dejected demeanor spoke volumes. He decided to stay and offer comfort.

He began by preparing a meal, expertly navigating his well-stocked kitchen. An hour and a half later, the house filled with delicious aromas. Skylar, having fallen asleep in her room, awoke to the enticing scent and descended the stairs.

Charles, just finishing setting the table, greeted her warmly. "Just in time! Come and taste my cooking."

Skylar, noting the persistent rain and gloomy sky outside, joined him. The beautifully presented dishes on the table sparked her appetite. "Charles, this looks amazing!"

"Of course! The film crew hired a five-star chef to give me private lessons. I already knew the basics, but with some guidance, look how much better I've become," Charles said confidently. He always committed fully to any endeavor he undertook.

Skylar enjoyed her meal, nodding in appreciation. "This is great! Your cooking has surpassed Steven's."

"Steven's been too busy dating and wedding planning to focus on his cooking," Charles said with a hint of pride, looking forward to showcasing his culinary skills at Christmas.

"Have you started dating anyone recently, Charles?" Skylar asked.

Chapter 1252 (continued)

Janine was currently most concerned about Charles, aside from herself. Her own situation was complex, but Charles remained solely focused on his career, seemingly averse to dating. He often dismissed Janine's concerns, claiming modern women's expectations were too demanding. He prioritized career success over romantic pursuits, much to Janine's worry as a parent.

At the mention of dating, Charles waved dismissively. "I don't have time for that. Most women I meet aren't simple, and I can't handle it. Besides, no one immediately catches my eye. I'd rather focus on my career. Steven's getting married. Harvey will probably find someone in a few years. Passing down the family legacy isn't my responsibility. Being single is far more carefree."

Skylar understood. Charles proudly embraced his singlehood, viewing others as unremarkable.

"Charles, you make a good point," she conceded, momentarily speechless but ultimately agreeing.

"Want a drink? I can keep you company, and I'll call a cab home when the rain stops," Charles offered.
