Chapter 1255
Rosa’s makeup was exquisite; she looked stunning. The moment she saw Skylar, her eyes widened in shock. “So it really is you,” she gasped. “A woman’s intuition is never wrong. I knew you claimed you didn't want to be a mistress, but secretly, you were trying to seduce a married man. Skylar, aren't you being shameless?”
Rosa had never seen Ned privately chatting with anyone on WhatsApp. His contact list was short, and previous conversations were strictly work-related. Yet, he’d proactively asked Skylar about her flight. Initially, she hadn't suspected Skylar; she simply wanted to identify this manipulative woman. Later, she discovered a few exchanged messages and a single photo, instantly bringing Skylar to mind.
Unease flared, prompting a video call. Seeing Skylar’s face, Rosa’s anger boiled over. Skylar remained calm. “You can check the chat records,” she replied. “I advise you not to jump to conclusions and assume everyone is a mistress. Doing so only makes people think you're constantly worried about someone stealing your fiancé. It shows a lack of confidence and suggests your relationship might not be as solid as you think.”
“Our relationship is legitimate,” Rosa retorted, her face flushed. “Don’t think I don’t know what you’re really thinking. You just want to steal someone else’s fiancé because yours is dead, right?”
At that moment, Charles, having woken and come downstairs, unexpectedly snatched the phone from Skylar. He turned to Rosa and shouted, “You look more like a mistress than anyone! Is your whole family in the mistress business? Take care of your man. If he dares bother Skye again, don’t blame me for exposing him to the media.”
Rosa hadn't anticipated a male companion, especially one so striking. His fierce protectiveness of Skylar surprised her. She'd hired a private detective and learned Skylar was single, prompting her to wonder if he was her new boyfriend.
“Who are you?” Rosa snapped, regaining her composure. “Are you Skylar’s boyfriend? Do you even know her? She’s been contacting my fiancé privately. You don’t mind that, do you? If you are her boyfriend, then you need to keep her in line right now.”
Charles was speechless. “Get lost!” he roared. “You and your fiancé better stay together and not come here to harm others. Do you have some sort of persecution complex? The man you treasure isn’t worth anything here. Just leave!”
He hung up, returning the phone to Skylar. “I thought Ned looked like Joe, with eyes as bright as his, but it turns out he’s just blind to the obvious. That woman is hideous, both in appearance and in her mind. If he can fall for her, he’s not a good person either. They’re both trash, so stay away from him.”
“Okay, I’ll listen to you,” Skylar replied, deleting Ned’s contact. It was pointless. Charles felt relief at her obedience. “That woman treats everyone as a potential rival. People like her are either insecure, or she stole someone else’s position as a fiancée.” Skylar nodded.
“I’ll go wash some fruit for you,” Charles offered, feeling better.
Rosa tried to send a message: “Just now, that guy was your boyfriend, right?” But the message failed; she was blocked.
A rush of panic seized Rosa. She’d used Ned’s absence to snoop. If he discovered her actions and subsequent blocked attempt to contact Skylar, she wouldn't know how to explain it.
