Chapter 1262

It would be better to talk to Ned than Rosa, who remained unrepentant from start to finish. Besides, Natalie suspected Ned had ulterior motives regarding Skylar. As she studied his face, suspicions flooded her mind. She was convinced Ned was Joe; the resemblance was uncanny. It wasn't merely a resemblance; they were the same person. Natalie felt certain. Furthermore, she reveled in Rosa's distress. Morals were inconsequential; Rosa's misfortune was her satisfaction.

Rosa's eyes widened. “Ned, why don't you get a lawyer? You have so much work; there's no need to waste your time. It's just a matter of compensation, or we can wait until my medical tests are complete.” She wanted to prevent any private interaction between Skylar and Ned, further fueled by guilt over Skylar blocking Ned on WhatsApp.

“There’s no need. I’ll talk to her now. You go back to your ward and rest,” Ned replied firmly.

Rosa was speechless.

Turning to Skylar, Ned said, “Let’s talk at the café across the hospital. It’s quiet and suitable for discussion.” He left without waiting for a response. Rosa watched them go, frustration and unease etched on her face.

Once they were gone, Natalie said, “Skylar, can you help negotiate? The car repair costs a few thousand dollars. With my injuries and hospital stay, that's another $18,000, plus the concussion and lost wages. It'll be at least $100,000.” She didn't need the money, but wanted the responsible party to pay.

“Alright, I’ll handle it. You just rest. Call me if you need anything,” Skylar agreed. Despite the awkwardness of facing Ned, she felt obligated to fight for Natalie's rights.

The café was small and sparsely populated—ideal for their conversation.

“What would you like to drink?” Ned asked.

“Just water,” Skylar replied.

Ned ordered water and a latte.

Skylar contemplated how to broach the $100,000 compensation, hoping for a swift conversation to avoid Rosa's interference. Ned then unexpectedly asked, “Why did you block me?”

Skylar was surprised. “Didn’t Ms. Reese mention it?”

“Her?” Ned raised an eyebrow. Skylar's shocked expression revealed the truth. He realized Rosa had used his phone to video call her without his knowledge. Skylar understood; she'd assumed Ned was with Rosa yesterday. This was irrelevant now.

“Let’s discuss the accident. Ms. Reese rear-ended my friend at full speed, making her fully responsible. You’ll need to cover repair costs, hospital bills, and other expenses,” Skylar stated calmly.
