Chapter 1276

Skylar found Rosa's ward and gently knocked twice. Rosa's voice called out, "Come in."

Skylar opened the door and entered. Rosa, engrossed in her phone, didn't look up. "Is it normal for doctors and nurses to check in so late at night?" she asked impatiently.

She harbored a slight disdain for the Jipsburg hospital. Although her ovarian cyst surgery was minor, she lacked complete trust in the doctors, hoping nothing would go wrong. She felt the hospital didn't deserve to operate if such a simple procedure could be mishandled. After her recovery, she planned to assess the outcome; if unsatisfactory, she would attribute it to the doctor's incompetence and expose the situation to the media.

Lost in thought, Rosa suddenly sensed something was amiss. Looking up, she saw Skylar, not a doctor. Her expression changed. "What are you doing here?" she exclaimed.

"I have a few questions for you," Skylar replied.

Skylar's sharp intensity unsettled Rosa, provoking fear and confusion. "Questions?" Rosa frowned. "Shouldn't it be the other way around? I have plenty for you. Why do you keep appearing near Ned? Are you trying to seduce him? And that man on your video call who insulted me—is he your boyfriend? What do you want from me?" Relieved Ned wasn't at the hospital, she suspected Skylar might have used the opportunity to flirt with him.

Ignoring Rosa's outburst, Skylar said, "I'll answer your questions later. Right now, I need you to answer one: Did Ned have an accident?"

Rosa instinctively started to nod, then hesitated. Her gaze flickered. "Car accident? Are you treating Ned? He's perfectly fine. He's had good luck, never been in a car accident. He's only witnessed accidents. I'm tired, and I have surgery tomorrow, so please leave me alone."

Seeing Rosa's evasiveness, Skylar didn't press. "When you've done something you regret, it haunts you day and night. Ms. Reese, take care of yourself." She turned to leave.

At the door, Rosa called, "Wait!"

Skylar turned back. Rosa hesitated, silent, unsure if her unease stemmed from guilt or something else. Skylar waited patiently.

"Don't spread rumors to Ned! No, don't seek him out. I'm his fiancée, and I don't want you near him," Rosa said, biting her lip.

Skylar glanced at Rosa, said nothing, and left.

Rosa stared at the closed door, panic rising. She wondered about Skylar's mention of a car accident. She knew Ned had been in one over three years ago. At the hospital, she sensed something was wrong but forced herself to ignore it.

Since the accident, Ned was different—irresistibly alluring, remarkably capable. He was a changed man. Furthermore, his vision was suddenly perfect; he no longer needed glasses.
