Chapter 1277
Ned had also lost his memory. Rosa kept telling herself it was a side effect of the accident. After arriving in Jipsburg, at that night's charity gala, someone recognized Ned as Joe. This prompted her to investigate Joe's past, uncovering coincidences that revealed unsettling truths. However, she resisted these truths, fearing the loss of her seemingly perfect life. She also wondered how Skylar knew.
Skylarโs persistence in pursuing Ned fueled Rosaโs anxiety. A wave of panic washed over her; she couldn't lose Ned. She clung to the belief that he was her Ned, regardless of his past. Joe was gone. Yet, the memory of Skylarโs earlier actionsโher strong denials and avoidance of Nedโcontradicted her current approach. Skylar wouldn't seek Rosa out unless she intended to see Ned. This realization heightened Rosa's anxiety. She frantically called Ned, but her calls went unanswered. She assumed he was returning to the hotel and had silenced his phone, a common occurrence.
After half an hour, she tried again. On her tenth attempt, he answered.
โHello?โ
โHey, Ned, what are you doing? Iโve called several times. Iโm worried,โ Rosa said, her voice laced with distress.
Ned, having just arrived at the hotel, replied, โI just got out of the car. My phone was on silent.โ
โYou might be fine, but Iโm not!โ Rosa thought, unable to articulate her true feelings. Instead, she sobbed, โIโm scared, Ned. Can we go back to Murida? I want to have my surgery there. Weโre doing so well; we don't need this Jipsburg branch. Letโs leave tomorrow.โ
She regretted her earlier ambition, her desire to prove herself. Ned's business expansion had filled her with excitement and hope, but now, she only wanted to escape.
Ned responded calmly to Rosa's panic, โIf youโre scared, go back tomorrow. The Murida hospital will be ready for you.โ
โAnd you?โ
โOnce things settle here, Iโll leave everything to others and return.โ He was straightforward.
Rosaโs face paled. โCanโt you come back with me? You said Iโm the most important person. You have no family here; Iโm your only family. How can you leave me to face surgery alone?โ
