Chapter 1313

Taking herbal medicine for adjustment hadn't helped. That's when Nicole thought of Skylar. Sure enough, Skylar found clues in Ulric's room: a formation created with the bed and other furnishings, and a spirit-summoning talisman hidden underneath. It was unrelated to any negative objects. Skylar photographed the room's arrangement, removed the talisman, and returned to Nicole.

“Mrs. Neal Senior, please examine this. This soul-summoning talisman is likely responsible for your son's persistent nightmares and exhaustion over the past month. Fortunately, we discovered it early; otherwise, the occupant would have been gradually affected.”

Skylar explained thoroughly, confident Nicole would soon uncover who altered the room and placed the talisman. After that, it was no longer her concern.

Nicole's expression grew serious, but her years of experience prevented her from being easily shaken. After a moment, she smiled. “I’m so grateful, Skylar. Alexander was right; you’re a capable young woman. Thank you for your help.”

“Don’t mention it, Mrs. Neal Senior,” Skylar replied, smiling. After leaving two amulets with Nicole, she was invited to explore the estate. Previously, she would have completed her task and departed. Now, observing the birthday celebration, she noticed the sizable crowd. Many were in formal attire, making individuals difficult to distinguish, yet Joe stood out.

As she watched him conversing, a wave of nostalgia washed over her, transporting her back several years. Joe seemed to sense her gaze and glanced sharply in her direction. Recognizing her, he appeared momentarily startled.

Standing beside him, Rosa, previously engaged in polite conversation, blushed as someone inquired about her and Joe's wedding. She looked shyly at Joe and said, “Ned has been quite busy with work lately. Once he finishes, we’ll have plenty of time to plan the wedding. Right, Ned?”

Her voice trailed off, unanswered. Those around them looked surprised. Just as Rosa felt embarrassed, Joe recovered, saying, “I don’t have time for a wedding yet, but we’ll send invitations when we do.”

Rosa felt disappointed; she’d hoped for a sooner date. The guests, perceptive, understood the implication, nodding knowingly and chuckling. Rosa maintained her composure.

Then, Joe announced, “I need to use the restroom.”

“Oh, okay,” Rosa replied, realizing his earlier distraction.

After Joe left, Rosa smoothly interacted with the guests. Over the past two years, as Joe's company stabilized, she had grown confident in social settings.
