Rosa enjoyed the compliments she received, but today's birthday celebration for Nicole was filled with people from their social class—a class to which both she and Joe were considered newcomers. While curiosity surrounded them, compliments were scarce. Surprisingly, Joe's presence naturally commanded respect. Despite his humble beginnings, his unique aura made him impossible to ignore.

In contrast, Rosa felt people viewed her as a beneficiary of Joe's success. His rise, without abandoning her, served as a testament to his loyalty, facilitating collaborations for him. Under the envious gazes of many young women, her vanity thrived. Yet, her eyelids twitched incessantly; a premonition of something impending.

This was their first visit to the Neal family mansion, and Rosa didn't know where the restroom was located. The thought prompted a self-deprecating chuckle. She'd been overly anxious lately. This was Murida; Skylar remained far away in Jipsburg. They belonged to entirely different social circles, and even if Skylar harbored doubts, there was no evidence to support them.

Their bond, forged over three years, was undeniable. Everyone acknowledged her. She and Joe were merely a marriage certificate away from officialdom. However, Rosa could no longer ignore the urgent need for the restroom.

Suddenly, Joe grabbed Skylar and led her away, to a secluded orchard, far from the party. Reaching a tree, Rosa regained her composure, surprised Joe had sought her out.

Skylar looked at Joe with surprise, even joy. "You…"

Joe's brow furrowed, his tone serious. "Do you know where this place is? How did you manage to sneak in?"

Skylar was startled. "I know exactly where I am, and I didn't sneak in."

It dawned on her that he'd brought her here, fearing she'd be caught without an invitation. She knew the consequences of crashing such an event, but hadn't expected Joe to care so much. He seemed to trust her. If he suspected ulterior motives, he wouldn't have checked on her well-being. Even without his memories, Joe remained incredibly perceptive.

Seeing Skylar calm and collected, Joe realized his concern might have been unwarranted. As he turned to leave, Skylar grasped his hand. She looked down, feeling the familiar warmth that soothed. Joe's body stiffened. Looking at their intertwined hands, he felt an overwhelming urge to embrace and tease her mercilessly. He swallowed hard, struggling to control the desire threatening his composure.

"Are you worried about me?" Skylar asked.

Joe felt momentarily disoriented, as if Skylar were teasing him. His heart raced, but reason prevailed. "I'm just worried you might get us into trouble if you act recklessly."
