Chapter 163
Steven was right. The Williams family was terrible; their words always left Skylar feeling battered and bruised. Charles had only heard about this before, but now he witnessed it firsthand.
"They're all insane," Skylar said lightly.
"They're seriously messed up," Charles fumed.
"Skylar, I'll say it one last time," Samuel said, acting as if he'd found her weak spot. "You will no longer be considered my sister if you can't answer my question."
Kenny frowned. "Samuel, things are different now." He could see that Skylar didn't care about their family, and it pained him. A few months ago, she had still cared.
"How are things different? She's found herself a sugar daddy and gone off the deep end. That's why she doesn't care about us anymore, isn't it?" Samuel thought he'd figured it all out. Just as Maisy had said, Skylar was cheap.
Skylar felt a rising wave of nausea as Kenny and Samuel spouted their accusations. "Security!" she called to two passing guards. "These two lunatics are harassing everyone! Please get them out of here."
The two guards immediately approached to subdue Kenny and Samuel.
"Lunatics?" Kenny and Samuel exclaimed.
"Yes, lunatics! Take them to the police station—some mental asylum must be missing them!" Charles chimed in, exaggerating for effect. "My sister is really intimidated. She'll be traumatized for weeks!"
Kenny and Samuel were furious. "Y-you! We're not lunatics! We know her! That girl is my sister!" Samuel roared at the guard pinning him to the ground.
Kenny, also enraged, shouted, "Don't listen to their nonsense! She's my sister!"
"This is the latest scam," Charles said, his voice trembling with manufactured horror. "Even if they aren't lunatics, they could be human traffickers. My sister's beautiful. They might snatch her and take her to some godforsaken corner of Southeast Otania!" His acting was truly top-notch.
Skylar immediately hid behind Charles, her voice quivering. "Charles, I'm so scared!"
Her convincing act dispelled any confusion. Fueled by a desire for justice, the security guards puffed out their chests. "Don't fret, miss. The law will handle them!"
"Law? Fuck you!" Samuel spat.
Kenny, his face pressed to the ground, couldn't speak.
"Didn't you hear what we said? She's our sister! Human trafficking? Don't be ridiculous!" Samuel struggled desperately but couldn't break free.
The security guards, mostly ex-soldiers, easily overpowered Kenny and Samuel. One guard gave Skylar an "okay" gesture. With them on watch, the brothers posed no threat.
Kenny and Samuel, beside themselves with rage, watched helplessly as Skylar and Charles walked away. Then, they were taken to the nearby police station.
After all the commotion, it was already dark. Samuel returned to the mansion looking… (The passage ends abruptly here)
