He turned to Skylar, his admiration evident. She was the most talented young person he had ever seen. Despite her youth, she was more skilled than senior team members.

“Come, take a look at this. Can you handle this task? If so, the team’s commission is 30 percent; the rest is yours.” Alexander showed Skylar the videos and photos on his phone.

Skylar watched attentively, carefully examining each one.

“I believe I can, but it will take some time. I can do it if they’re not in a rush,” she said earnestly after considering the task. She was confident in her ability.

Alexander smiled at her serious expression. “You didn’t even ask about the pay?” he teased.

Skylar shook her head. “This job marks my entry into the industry. The pay isn’t my main concern. The quality of the restoration is what matters.” Her value would naturally increase with strong performance and industry recognition.

Alexander grinned. “You’re young but wise beyond your years. Alright, I’ll take this job for you. Rest assured, it will be at least seven figures.”

“Thank you, Mr. Gardner Senior.”

Alexander looked at Skylar, regretting his inability to mentor her, or even better, to have her as his granddaughter-in-law. What a pity. He recalled John mentioning that Skylar and Caleb were impossible, leaving him to treat Skylar as an apprentice rather than pursuing a match between them. Skylar was already spoken for—by Joe.

He decided not to tell Caleb. The man couldn't keep a secret, and might blurt it out or act impulsively. It was a shame; the granddaughter-in-law he had envisioned for Caleb was unavailable.

A knock came at the door.

“Come in,” Alexander responded.

Skylar was about to leave when someone outside spoke directly to her, "Skylar, your family is here to see you. They’re waiting in the waiting area."

Skylar frowned. If her foster parents were visiting, they would have contacted her. This was unexpected. Could something be wrong?

“Yes, they said they’re your family.”

Skylar pushed aside her doubts. “Thank you.”

She turned to Alexander. “Sorry, Mr. Gardner Senior, I need to see them. It must be urgent.”

“Go ahead. Don’t worry. If it’s urgent, take the day off,” Alexander said kindly.
