Chapter 182
The captain of the security team, accompanied by his subordinates, approached Kenny's group. "Please leave immediately," he demanded. Surrounded by the burly guards, their expressions faltered; they felt intimidated.
"You better think this through! Are you really ready to sever all ties with the Williams family?" Samuel demanded, convinced Skylar was playing a trick on them.
Skylar turned to leave, unwilling to waste her breath on Samuel. Dealing with him was a waste of time and emotion.
"Stand right where you are, Skylar!" Peter shouted. Even he sensed something was amiss.
Skylar ignored them. She didn't care about their opinions or whether they considered her their sister. Peter found her heartlessness unbelievable, believing she shouldn't cut ties simply because they sided with Maisy.
Without looking back, Skylar walked away. Kenny gritted his teeth. "I told you she wouldn't cooperate," he said to Peter and Samuel. "Let's go."
Peter could only nod stiffly as the security guards prepared to intervene. Samuel looked furious. "She will regret this!" he spat.
He believed Skylar was jealous of the family's favoritism towards Maisy, feeling she could never measure up.
Then Maisy rushed over. Surrounded by staff, she aimed to expose Skylar, hoping to see her judged and humiliated.
Skylar looked at Maisy coldly, recognizing the familiar pity play.
Several passing colleagues were bewildered. Skylar, usually gentle and popular, seemed to be bullying the crying Maisy. Even newcomers partnered with Skylar for collaborative tasks because of her professionalism, not her seniority. Many admired and wanted to learn from her.
Assessing the situation, the onlookers wondered if this was a complex family feud. Academics, they knew, were usually emotionally stableโSkylar included.
Her red lips curled. "Here comes another drama queen," she sneered. "If you enjoy acting, join the entertainment industry and hone your skills. You give the same performance every time. I'm sick of it.
"Don't call me your sister again. If you crave coddling so much, wear diapers. Don't just call anyone your elder sister."
Some staff snickered, struggling to maintain composure. Skylar's sharp wit, juxtaposed with her usual gentle demeanor, was disorienting. They now understood why something had felt "off" earlier.
