Chapter 190
Outside the TV station building, Annie's car had just pulled out of the parking lot when someone suddenly appeared, blocking her path. She slammed on the brakes. "Where did this person come from?" she thought, startled by their sudden appearance.
Annie had been restless for the past few days. She was absentminded and making mistakes at work. Now, she'd nearly hit someone! A collision at the TV station entrance would have ended her career. Cold sweat broke out on her back. Taking a deep breath, she suppressed her anxiety.
Putting on a worried expression, she got out of the car. "Are you okay? Do you need to go to the hospital? I'm so sorry. You were in my blind spot."
Maisy, unexpectedly almost hit, was also startled. "I think I just twisted my ankle. Nothing else is hurt," she replied.
"Maisy?" Annie's face fell, her expression turning cold.
Maisy was about to smile, but Annie's sullen expression made her understand. Annie had used her to learn about Skylar, then dropped her. Now, Annie didn't bother to hide her displeasure. She clearly considered Maisy a fool.
"So, you still remember me? I thought you'd forgotten after our last chat. Were you satisfied with the information about Skylar? You're so curious about her. Is it because you know the man backing her?" Maisy asked bluntly.
"What do you want?" Annie stared coldly, maintaining a haughty demeanor, seemingly unconcerned about Maisy's accusations.
Maisy patted nonexistent dust from her skirt. "Nothing, really. We clearly can't be friends. I just want to know who Skylar was looking for and the identity of that man."
Annie's expression soured. Things had been difficult at home lately. Even Rowan was avoiding her calls. Regretting her actions and blaming herself, she knew she couldn't make another mistake.
She responded indifferently, "I don't know what you're talking about. I'm not very familiar with Ms. Sullivan."
If Joe found out she'd gossiped about Skylar with someone from the Williams family, the consequences would be unbearable.
Chapter 150 (Note: There's a discrepancy here. The chapter number changed abruptly.)
"Don't lie to me, Ms. Silver. I'm not a child." Maisy was determined to pursue this lead.
Annie, her patience wearing thin, looked at the relentless Maisy. "The Williams family has had a lot of trouble recently. If you don't want to make things worse, don't pester me for information."
She opened the car door and got in.
Maisy furiously tapped on the car window, shouting her suspicions. "There aren't many people who can silence you in Jipsburg. You asked me about Skylar because you like the man she's seeing, don't you? Who is he? Iโฆ"
She stopped, her expression souring, her eyes widening in disbelief.
Annie put on sunglasses, concealing the mocking look in her eyes. She knew Maisy had figured something out. If Maisy caused trouble, it would divert Joe's attention to the Williams familyโexactly what Annie wanted.
