Chapter 191

Annie knew the Williams family disliked Skylar, primarily due to Maisy's interference. Annie hoped Maisy would continue to torment Skylar, making her the laughingstock of Jipsburg. This was Annie's only outlet for the anger stemming from recent family setbacks. Skylar's actions had disrupted Annie's previously smooth life, fueling her rage.

Maisy remained dazed for half an hour. A security guard at the TV station noticed her and inquired about her well-being, snapping her out of her reverie. She clenched her fists, her icy fingertips digging painfully into her palms. Raging jealousy made her eyes bloodshot.

If her suspicions were correct, Skylar was incredibly lucky. Maisy recalled the silhouette at the auction house—could it have been Skylar? She also remembered seeing Joe when she ran into Paul. While Paul usually did the talking, Joe's presence was significant.

"Damn it, Skylar! You can't be this lucky! Your boyfriend cheated on you with me! You deserve an old man. How did you end up with Joe Martin? No… this isn't true! I don't believe it!" Maisy ranted.

Her phone rang. "Hello, Peter," she answered flusteredly.

"Did you meet Annie? What did she say? Who's behind Skylar?" Peter asked urgently.

Maisy hesitated. If the Williams family learned Joe supported Skylar, they might reconcile with her. Would Maisy still have a place in the family? The answer was obvious. As long as she was around, Skylar would not be accepted into the family.

"Annie didn't say much. She was curious about Skylar and our family affairs. I'm sorry, Peter. I wanted to help, but I couldn't," Maisy said.

Peter was silent for a few seconds. Then, somewhat irritably, he said, "I know you tried. Don't blame yourself. Things are hectic at home. Take care."

"You and Dad take care too. I believe the company will get through this," Maisy replied.

"Okay," Peter said before hanging up.

Maisy searched online for a video of Annie interviewing Joe. She then reviewed photos from her friends showing Annie and Joe at John's engagement banquet. In both the video and photos, Annie seemed only interested in Joe. Maisy concluded Annie's questions about Skylar stemmed from a suspicion that Skylar was Joe's secret lover.

"If Skylar can do it, so can I!"

She found a number in her contacts and called. "Do you know Joe's schedule? I'll pay for a copy."

After obtaining the schedule, she booked a plane ticket and called Christopher. "Still waiting for Skylar to change her mind? I know her lover—Joe Martin! I want Joe. You want Skylar back, right? Let's make a deal. I have medicine to get her into bed. Then, we'll take compromising photos to blackmail her and make Joe dislike her. Two birds with one stone. What do you say?"
