Chapter 193
Christopher's initial assumption about the man Skylar was with had shifted from Paul to Joe. "How did you guess?" "Are you done? If you are, then get lost," Skylar said expressionlessly.
She felt calm seeing him again that day. A scumbag like him wasn't worthy of any emotional response.
Christopher's heart ached. "You used to say you loved me, that you wanted to marry me. We even vowed to never be apart. Are you aware you're breaking that vow?"
"Oh, I see. You've developed some acting skills and a knack for twisting facts after sleeping around with Maisy for so long," Skylar retorted sarcastically. She found that anyone associated with Maisy became shameless and behaved despicably.
"Iโฆ What happened with Maisy isn't what you think. I was deceived. She made me think I liked her, but I've always loved you. Skylar, you've made a mistake too. We both went down the wrong path. I'll forgive you, and you forgive me, okay? I'm the only one who sincerely cares for you, loves you, and wants to marry you," Christopher pleaded.
His eyes were bloodshot as he stared at Skylar. Once, her eyes had been full of love for him. Now, they were cold and indifferent.
"No, you made an unforgivable mistake. I did not," Skylar said, regretting the seven years she'd spent with him. Seven years ago, she'd been blind. She didn't care to dwell on such disgusting memories.
The security guard at the entrance noticed their interaction and hurried over. "Ms. Sullivan, do you need help?"
"It's okay. I just ran into a mental patient," Skylar explained with a smile.
The security guard was relieved. He glanced at Christopher, nodding slightly. He thought the man's good looks were wasted on him.
"What are you looking at?" Christopher yelled angrily.
The security guard rolled his eyes. "Hurry up and leave. Don't think I won't hit you just because you're mentally unstable. If you bother Ms. Sullivan again, I will."
Skylar knew Alexander's security guards were former soldiers, skilled in combat. Beating Christopher would be easy for them.
Christopher never imagined he'd be humiliated by a security guard. He felt close to a mental breakdown.
"Get lost! She's my girlfriend. We're just having a disagreement," Christopher shouted.
The security guard looked at Skylar. She remained indifferent, treating Christopher like a stranger. He couldn't help but wonder about the prevalence of mentally unstable people.
"Skylar, we need to talk. This isn't the place. Shall we go to that fondue restaurant we often visited?" Christopher said, calming down. Even angry, he couldn't show it; he still had the drug Maisy had given him. Earlier, he'd hesitated, not wanting to worsen things with Skylar. But nowโฆ Skylar would blame herself for not listening.
"Save your breath, Christopher." The word "fondue" made Skylar nauseous. She used to enjoy it because Christopher hadn't had much money, making it their most extravagant meal.
"No, Skye. I can't let go. I never agreed to break up. You don't want a scene at your workplace, do you? If you don't want that, then come with me," Christopher said calmly. His emotions reverted. He wanted Skylar to remember their good memories.
