Chapter 200

Paul shivered; he hadn't heard such a pretentious voice in a long time. He reflexively turned to see who it was and was stunned. Maisy. Why was she here?

Joe glanced over as well.

Seeing Joe, Maisy decided all her waiting had been worthwhile. She approached quickly, her high heels clacking.

"Mr. Martin, what a coincidence."

She had arrived at the hotel the previous night but it was too late to knock on Joe's door—especially since he was in the presidential suite. Entry was impossible. She set an alarm for 8:00 a.m. and had been waiting ever since, finally seeing him upon his arrival. She’d reapplied her makeup four or five times by then. Fortunately, her efforts paid off.

A flicker of disdain crossed Joe's cold eyes. Paul, standing beside him, keenly sensed his boss's disgust. He'd disliked Maisy from the moment he first saw her. Maisy, however, seemed oblivious to his aversion.

"Is there something you need, Ms. Williams?" Paul asked.

Maisy was displeased. Couldn't he see she was talking to Joe? Why the interruption?

With a polite smile, Maisy said gracefully, "I'm delighted to run into you. There have been misunderstandings in our past encounters. I need to explain myself and clear the air. I also want to talk about Skylar."

Paul frowned. Was Maisy trying to cause trouble again? Did she really think he hadn't thoroughly investigated her and her family? He knew all about them, as did Joe. Only Maisy remained in the dark.

She believed herself a princess, the center of her family's universe—her parents and brothers revolved around her. She assumed Joe would, too, believing that a little effort would win him over.

"You handle it," Joe said, heading straight for the elevator.

Maisy tried to stop him, but couldn't.

"Mr. Martin, Skylar has deceived you!" she shouted anxiously.

She was sure he'd heard her, but he didn't respond.

Chapter 200

After Joe entered the elevator, Paul turned to Maisy. "Tell me. What did Ms. Sullivan do to deceive my boss?"

Maisy bit her lip, feeling displeased. Had Skylar bewitched Joe? Why wouldn't he listen to her? Judging by his cold shoulder, she assumed Skylar had been speaking ill of her.

"Does Mr. Martin know Skylar has a boyfriend?" Maisy asked.

Paul raised an eyebrow, curious about Maisy's knowledge. Previously, she'd misunderstood him and Skylar; now, she was implicating Joe.

"What does that matter?" Paul asked vaguely.

"It matters! If Mr. Martin knew Skylar had a boyfriend and continued seeing her, wouldn't he be the third party? If he doesn't know, she's deceived him. Even if he only sees Skylar casually, he deserves the truth. Furthermore, Skylar is a Williams. This would shame our family. If she offends Mr. Martin, we all suffer," Maisy explained, her voice tight with impatience.
