Chapter 235
Suzy recognized the name. Caleb had seemed heartbroken yesterday, but the woman he liked was named Skylar. So why was Jeffrey visiting John? What was going on?
Suzy immediately rushed in.
John was surprised when he learned Jeffrey wanted to see him. Logically, shouldn't Jeffrey visit Joe? What was happening?
Doubtful, John allowed Suzy to show the guests in.
Seeing Suzy invite them, Jeffrey and the others felt confident their guess was correct. It was also clear John likely liked Skylar very much.
Peter sneered. He’d always looked down on Skylar, ashamed of his country-born sister. However, he now recognized Skylar's capabilities. John, surrounded by beautiful women, liking her meant she was stronger than he’d thought.
Sadie was secretly vain. She could act haughty with Janine, but felt insecure and lacking confidence around a truly aristocratic family. Looking at the luxurious manor, she felt envious, hoping the Williams family would one day achieve such grandeur.
However, they didn't find John inside. Suzy explained he was busy and would arrive later, asking the Williamses to wait.
Meanwhile, John was upstairs, silently observing the family downstairs. He hesitated, then took a photo and sent it to Joe. Since it was the weekend, Joe should be home.
He was. Joe was having breakfast with Skylar. They’d returned home late last night and slept in. By the time they woke, it was after eight. Skylar had made toast for a simple breakfast.
While eating, Joe received a message from John on WhatsApp. He casually opened it. Seeing Jeffrey, Peter, and Sadie, he subtly raised an eyebrow.
Skylar noticed Joe’s focus on his phone. Thinking he was working, she ate quietly. However, Joe handed her the phone.
"Are they your biological parents?"
Skylar frowned. Why would he mention those "scumbags"? Confused, she took the phone. She saw Jeffrey and the others in a luxurious manor, chatting; Suzy was bringing tea.
"What are they doing?"
"They came to see John, claiming to be related to you. John doesn't know their intentions," Joe explained.
Skylar replied coldly, "Tell Mr. Gardner I have no relationship with them. If they claim kinship, consider them my enemies."
Joe, seeing the cold pain in Skylar's eyes, nodded. "Okay, I'll talk to John."
Skylar ate quietly, knowing the Williams family's shamelessness.
"If they bother you, use my name. They won't dare disturb you in Jipsburg again," Joe added.
Skylar looked up, feeling protected and touched. "They'll only become more shameless and try to exploit you," she said.
Joe smiled. "They won't dare."
The Williams family was despicable, but his methods were even more ruthless. If they sought death, he'd oblige them.
