Chapter 256
Skylar barely managed a smile, silently pleading, "Please stop bringing up yesterday!"
Earlier, when she'd turned to face Joe, she'd secretly glanced at his lips. Her mind immediately drifted to their kiss the previous night.
"I won't be having dinner tonight. Bye!" she said, dashing out. She'd never fled so quickly.
Joe raised an eyebrow at her hasty departure. Skylar was as quick as ever.
Skylar had promised Natalie she would visit Charles that day. Charles's scene was being shot at a golf course. Natalie was an avid fan of Austin Powell, an actor featured in the movie. Overhearing Skylar's conversation with Charles the previous day, she'd immediately begged Skylar to take her along.
She even claimed Jeremy was very busy and needed entertainment; visiting her decade-long idol would suffice. Skylar remembered their university days, when Natalie constantly gushed about Austin.
Austin lacked the delicate features favored by young stars. He was rather manly-looking. According to Natalie, he'd studied martial arts from a young age, then pursued a military career while in university, only joining the entertainment industry after retiring. He was not only a good actor, but also performed his own stunts.
Both Natalie and Charles admired him, and Skylar liked him as well. She picked Natalie up, and the two rushed to the set. However, Natalie was on a video call with Jeremy the entire journey.
Jeremy's patience with Natalie clearly indicated his deep affection. Skylar's worries about their relationship seemed unfounded. They were practically inseparable, chatting constantly. By the time Natalie ended the call, they had arrived.
"Look at the two of you," Skylar teased, chuckling. "Does your husband know you're visiting Austin?"
Natalie grinned. "No need to tell him. He'd get jealous. Jeremy is rather territorial." She explained that Jeremy pouted if her gaze lingered on an attractive man; discovering her visit to her idol would make him clingy and jealous.
"Charles said Austin arrived twenty minutes ago. His scene is in ten minutes," Skylar said, checking the time.
"Then what are we waiting for? We might even talk to him! Oh, how exciting!" Natalie squealed, placing homemade cookies in an exquisite box.
Skylar sighed dramatically. "Cookies for Austin, but none for me? How could you?"
Natalie giggled. "Oh, hush. We have to watch our diet, no?"
"I'm pretty sure he needs to watch his weight more than we do."
"Please. He'll easily work off the calories. I halved the sugar and butter; it won't affect his weight."
"I'm telling Mr. Hughes his wife is fawning over another man."
"Take it all! You know I'm joking, right? I'd never do that to you. I made more for you than my idol! You and my husband are equally important to me."
Natalie promptly produced another large box of cookies.
