Chapter 284
If Joe never met that special person, Skylar was content to maintain their marriage as a friendship. After all, physical intimacy wasn't synonymous with love.
"Okay, but be prepared. I have quite an appetite," Skylar teased, a mischievous smile playing on her lips. She genuinely enjoyed this perk of being his wife.
Seeing Skylar's smile, Joe's usual icy expression softened. He grinned. "Don't worry. I'm great at earning money, so eat as much as you like."
"Well then, darling, I want more beef chunks. Please order another serving!" Skylar playfully winked, her smile radiant. Under normal circumstances, she wouldn't call him "darling," but the playful atmosphere made it feel acceptable. She even emphasized the word.
Joe's gaze darkened slightly when she said "darling." A thought occurred to him: if she called him "darling" instead of "Mr. Martin" in bed, then
"Okay," Joe replied softly, suppressing the desire surging within him.
Skylar felt the dinner had broken the ice. Their interaction was less formal and more comfortable. However, she maintained a strong sense of boundaries, constantly aware of the invisible line between them and careful not to cross it.
When they left the restaurant, she smiled. "Thank you, Mr. Martin. Dinner was fantastic!"
Joe frowned at the use of "Mr. Martin." "Why aren't you calling me darling anymore?" he asked.
Skylar blushed. "I was just joking earlier," she explained, unable to bring herself to say it again.
"From now on, you can call me darling. I like it," Joe said intently.
Skylar was stunned. His gaze was confusing; it seemed he genuinely liked herโan impossibility. Suddenly, "darling" felt like a hot coal in her mouth. She avoided his gaze. "I'll go get the car."
But Joe followed her. Skylar was surprised. "Aren't you going to take your own car?" He looked out of place in her small carโlike trying to fit an elephant into a mousehole.
"I've told the driver to leave. I'm riding with you," Joe replied.
Skylar said nothing more. Unbeknownst to her, Charles had just left the restaurant and witnessed them getting into the car. He was stunned. "Who's that man?" he exclaimed.
His friend, puzzled, asked, "What man?"
Charles ignored him. However, Samuel, following behind, also saw Joe and Skylar. Even without seeing the man's face, he recognized Skylar.
"That's your precious sister's lover. Turns out she didn't find a sugar daddy, but a boy toy. He doesn't even have a car," Samuel sneered.
Chapter 294
He had overestimated Skylar. Being a mistress wasn't ideal, but surely it was better than being involved with a boy toy. Judging from the man's well-defined physique, Samuel could tell he worked out.
