Charles didn't reply; he was likely busy filming and didn't have time to check his phone. Skylar's two brothers had different temperaments. Steven remained calm and handled situations steadily, while Charles sometimes acted impulsively.

Considering her whirlwind marriage to Joe, Charles would surely have doubts about him. If they clashed, a fight could erupt. Although she'd never seen Joe fight, she sensed he would be fierce, and Charles fought recklessly. It was hard to say who would win.

It was better not to tell Charles for now.

After replying to Charles, Skylar checked Natalie's WhatsApp messages. Natalie had sent a series of increasingly dramatic photos. When Skylar didn't respond, Natalie spammed her chat that morning with messages like:

"Skylar, are you hiding something from me? Have you been sleeping around with some hot guy?" "Too tired to reply to me?" "It's so late, and you haven't replied. There's only one explanation—you've been up to no good! Tell me honestly! Don't lie to your best friend!" "Are you okay?" "I just realized I don't know your address. Are you sick? I've heard there's a bad flu going around with high fevers. If you see this, reply right away so I can come take care of you!" "Skye!" "My friend!"

It was clear Natalie was worried.

Feeling guilty, Skylar quickly sent Natalie a voice message. Receiving no answer, she figured Natalie's phone might be on silent. Therefore, she sent a text:

"I'm fine, don't worry. I went to bed early last night and rushed out this morning, so I didn't have time to check my phone."

After sending the message, she put her phone aside and focused on her work. Frank's painting was almost restored, and Skylar hoped to finish it by Friday. She needed to concentrate fully on the restoration over the next couple of days.

But as she sat down, she felt the soreness in her waist and weakness in her legs. It was manageable, but undeniable that Joe was a beast in bed.

Meanwhile, Natalie was busy in the kitchen. She had just received a call from Jeremy, who said his plane would land in an hour. He had the day off and was coming straight home. After ten days alone, Natalie was eager to see him. His sudden return was a surprise.

He always brought thoughtful gifts from his business trips. She looked forward to these moments; it felt like opening a mystery box each time.

Filled with happiness, Natalie hummed as she prepared a nutritious breakfast. Jeremy would likely arrive around 9:00 a.m., and she knew he disliked airplane food. Accustomed to her cooking, he rarely enjoyed hotel breakfasts. So, she decided to make a lavish meal serving as both breakfast and lunch.

After finishing most of the preparations, she finally picked up her phone. Seeing Skylar's response, she quickly replied:

"My husband is back from his trip and will be home soon. I was just busy cooking. I'm so glad you're okay. I was worried sick! I have to go now. I'm making soup and need to check on it."

Right after sending the message, Jeremy called.
