Chapter 331

Joe replied, "Alright," his expression unchanged.

A moment later, Paul returned. "I spoke with the doctor. You can be discharged. I've already picked up your medication."

Skylar left the hospital and returned to the hotel. Joe initially went with her, intending to rest, but Jenny called, saying she felt unwell. Joe returned to the hospital, leaving Paul to take Skylar back.

The drive to the hotel took about twenty minutes. After dropping Skylar off, Paul rushed back to the hospital; Jenny's condition seemed urgent.

Skylar showered and rested. She then contacted Natalie. Natalie had been unusually quiet for the past couple of days. Now settled, Skylar sensed something was wrong. Natalie usually called or texted the next day if she was with Jeremy.

Skylar sent Natalie a photo from the hospital, writing, "Who knew I'd end up in the hospital with gastritis on this trip?" She added a crying emoji.

Natalie called within a minute. "What's going on? I don't remember you ever being this ill. We used to eat and drink recklessly, and you never had stomach problems. How did you get gastritis in Korel City?"

Natalie likely considered Skylar's mistreatment by the Williams family, continuing, "I was against you donating blood to Maisy from the start. She makes me uncomfortable. She's a manipulative bitch. But you'd just returned to the Williamses and wanted to get along with them, so I couldn't stop you. Now, I regret it so much. I should have stopped you."

Skylar laughed. "I regret it too. I was foolish to believe the Williamses would appreciate my sacrifice. It was all for nothing."

"Forget it. It's good you realize that now. By the way, any romantic encounters? With your looks, men should be lining up. Elliot asked about you the other day. He seems smitten. Interested?" Natalie, ever the matchmaker, suggested.

Skylar's relief at Natalie's cheerful tone was palpable. "No need for romance. I'm married and committed. Besides, romance isn't really my thing," she said calmly.

Skylar's relationship with Joe was ideal. They were physically compatible, their marriage was respectful, and they generally didn't interfere with each other's work. If Joe ever wanted a divorce, Skylar could walk away without pain. She believed Joe felt the same way.

For once, Natalie didn't argue about romance. She sighed. "Married? Are you still acting? Are you seriously telling me Joe Martin is your husband?"

"I wouldn't lie to you. Joe Martin is my husband," Skylar replied.

"If he's really your husband, I'll go to a bar and do a pole dance!" Natalie exclaimed.

"You don't have to go that farโ€ฆ"

"If you can marry Joe, why can't I do a pole dance?"

"If Mr. Hughes finds out you're doing a pole dance, he'll probably lock you up at home," Skylar said, recalling Jeremy's scary reaction to picking up a drunk Natalie from a bar. He'd likely forbidden her from going back.

Natalie paused. "I don't care. No one can stop me from doing what I want."

Separated by hundreds of miles, Skylar didn't detect the slight unease in Natalie's tone.
