Jenny's words subtly reproached Joe for his lack of self-care. Skylar quietly sipped her water. At the mention of "insomnia," Paul immediately looked at Skylar. Joe's sleep problems had recently improved significantly, thanks to Skylar, but he apparently hadn't told Jenny. Paul sensed a distance between Joe and Skylar, created by Jenny's presence.

After speaking further, Jenny looked weary. Joe accompanied her back to her ward, leaving Paul to look after Skylar.

"Ms. Scott and Mr. Martin grew up together, and…" Paul felt compelled to explain their relationship to avoid misunderstandings.

Skylar learned that Jenny was Joe's nanny's daughter. An accident had killed Jenny's mother while she was protecting Joe, after which he took full responsibility for Jenny. Jenny had come to Korel City three years ago to study, claiming she was drawn to its romantic charm. She'd been hospitalized a few days earlier with heart problems and needed surgery in the next couple of days. Joe had rushed from Jipsburg City for the surgery.

Paul emphasized their sibling-like bond, with Joe caring for Jenny as a sister. After Jenny's mother died that year, Gloria had contacted Jenny's other relatives, but they had refused to take her in, leaving Gloria to raise her.

Skylar smiled, saying, "I see."

"That's the gist of it. Mr. Martin was concerned about Ms. Scott's health. The surgery is probably scheduled for tomorrow," Paul added.

Skylar nodded. Having eaten breakfast and regained her strength, she felt revitalized. "Mr. Zeigler, could you check with the doctor about my discharge? It's just a stomach issue, and I don't want to occupy a bed in a busy ward."

"Sure," Paul replied.

Once Paul left, Skylar went to the bathroom. Returning, she was surprised to find Joe already seated on the couch.

"I had Mr. Zeigler check with the doctor. If everything's okay, I'd like to be discharged," Skylar said, smiling.

Joe sensed a slight distance from Skylar and asked, "About Jenny—I didn't mention her earlier. Would you like to know anything?"

"Mr. Zeigler already told me. I understand Jenny's relationship with you," Skylar replied, smiling.

Joe nodded. "Alright. Today, you can rest at the hotel. Tomorrow—"

"I'll manage on my own tomorrow. Ms. Scott's surgery is scheduled then, so you and Paul should be with her at the hospital," Skylar said promptly. She had only met Jenny that day, and her presence during the surgery might make Jenny uncomfortable.

Joe regarded her contemplatively.
