Chapter 344
Puzzled, Skylar opened the door, asking, "Don't you have your room key?" She stopped abruptly, then exclaimed, "It's you? Christopher! How did you find me?"
Christopher, in a black hotel staff uniform with his name tag visible, stood before her. His gaze lingered on Skylar, then fell upon the luxurious suite behind her—the hotel's most expensive. Envy burned in his eyes.
"Come with me!" he pleaded. "Babe, Joe's just playing you! You don't belong in his elite circle. The Martins are worlds apart from the Williamses. Things are already complicated with your family; it'll be worse with his. Why be Joe's plaything?"
His eyes bloodshot, he seemed desperate to make her see reason.
"Christopher, you disgust me!" Skylar said coldly. "We have nothing to do with each other. Your pestering will get you nowhere."
He became agitated. "You're just a temporary amusement for him. He gives you experiences you've never had, but that's all. They're beyond your reach, they'll never truly be yours. Do you understand? He'll abandon you if this continues; it'll be too late to turn back. Look at me—I thought Maisy was sincere, but she was just playing me, never truly committed. Come with me, and I'll forget everything that's happened. We can go back to how things used to be. Remember those blissful times? We only had eyes for each other. Now that we've seen temptation, we won't fall for those tricks again. If you come with me, we'll get married now, have children… happiness is within our reach! Wake up, Skylar! Let's go. Anyone could hurt you—even Joe is playing with your feelings—but I'm sincere! I swear you'll be the only one for me, and I'll cherish you for life! I vow a horrible death if I ever mistreat you!"
Skylar's face grew colder. Looking at him with disdain, she asked, "Done?"
"Babe, there's more, but I haven't much time. Come with me, okay? I won't hurt you, babe. Give me one last chance. I promise I won't hurt you!" He reached for her hand.
Skylar shoved him away. "Get out!"
Her indifference and disdain chilled him, extinguishing his agitation. She didn't bother to say another word.
With reddened eyes, he asked, "Babe, do you really have the heart to see me so sad?"
Recognizing his manipulative tactics—he'd always deceived her this way—Skylar called the hotel reception. "One of your staff members is harassing me. I'm taking this to court."
The receptionist was flustered and quickly dispatched security.
Christopher's eyes widened. "Are you really that cruel? Leaving me with no way out?"
Skylar stared impassively. "You surprise me. You seem to get more shameless every time I see you."
Crimson with anger, he pointed at her. "You've been played by Joe! Who else will truly care for you? Instead of appreciating me, you're cold. You'll regret this! You'll definitely regret this!"
