Chapter 348

Jenny rarely heard Paul praise anyone. However, judging by his tone, he wasn't being polite or flattering; he genuinely admired Skylar.

In that instant, Jenny's heart sank. Her hands were clasped tightly together under the blanket.

In a Jipsburg City hospital ward, derogatory remarks emanated from one room, disturbing other patients' sleep. They complained to the staff nurse, Hilary Dean.

Hilary developed a headache after receiving the complaints. She'd never expected a woman from such a distinguished family to be so ill-mannered. Furthermore, while her family appeared conscientious, their care was actually perfunctory and impatient. This lack of care contributed to the patient's slow recovery and volatile temper. Her tantrums stemmed directly from her family's attitude.

Hilary, experienced with various patients and their families, understood the situation immediately. Entering the ward, she saw a smashed bowl and spilled foodโ€”far more serious than she'd anticipated. She was speechless. Samuel and Peter, two dashing men from a wealthy family, were splattered with food, their designer clothes ruined.

When Samuel saw Hilary, his expression changed. Suppressing his anger, he said to Sadie, "Mom, please stop."

"Stop? If you treated me better, cared for me better, I wouldn't be so angry! I only complained about discomfort and the food," Sadie retorted. "You both frowned and got angry! How could I not be angry?"

Sadie, recently amputated, desperately needed her family's undivided attention. Instead, they scorned her disability, showing impatience and neglecting her care. They played on their phones while she lay there, dismissing her requests for water as fussiness.

Samuel and Peter looked grumpy. Samuel, especially, couldn't tolerate it any longer. "Mom, can you be reasonable? We put our work aside to be here! Why can't you understand?" He couldn't comprehend how his elegant, well-mannered mother had become so shrewish.

Sadie's eyes reddened. "I worked hard to raise you, and this is how you treat me?" They always had a retort for her.

Peter frowned, his patience exhausted.

After listening, Hilary understood: Sadie's family had failed to provide adequate comfort and support, leading to her distress.

Hilary said, "Other patients' families have complained about the noise. Caring for a post-operative patient is challenging. Mood swings are common, requiring patience and understanding from the family. Is there anyone else who can help?" This last question was directed at Samuel and Peter. Peter remained silent.
