Chapter 347

"You're a beast," Skylar continued.

Amused, Joe pulled her closer and whispered coaxing words in her ear. Looking back, he realized he hadn't constrained himself. Next time… he'd think about that then.

Meanwhile, Dave took Christopher to the nearest police station. The hotel demanded compensation because Christopher had harassed a guest and smeared their reputation. The hotel's lawyer was also present.

Only then did Christopher feel alarmed. He faced possible detention and a hefty compensation payment to the hotel! He paled in shock. Despite apologizing to Dave and the police, his apologies were futile; the hotel remained firm. Strong evidence indicated he'd schemed to harass their guest, and his claim that Skylar was his girlfriend was merely an excuse.

The lawyer, having learned about the situation from Paul beforehand, had been urged by Paul to make Christopher pay dearly for harassing Skylar and being rude to Joe. To secure his job, Dave ignored Christopher's pleas.

Ultimately, Christopher was detained for five days and ordered to pay the hotel $200,000.

Skylar learned of this the next day upon waking. She felt nothing; Christopher deserved it. Noting her impassiveness, Joe smiled. "I'll take you fishing today. We can go snorkeling, too. Are you up for it?"

"Of course!" Skylar immediately nodded, eagerly anticipating the outing.

At noon, Jenny, whose condition had stabilized, was transferred to a ward. Paul and her caretaker bustled about, attending to her needs. Lying in bed, Jenny looked disappointed, repeatedly glancing at the door, hoping to see someone specific.

Paul noticed her behavior but remained silent. Finally, Jenny asked, "Paul, did Joe say when he'll come? Is he busy with work?" Joe had told his employees he was there on business, but his work couldn't occupy his entire day, could it? She understood he was busy, but still longed to see him.

Paul replied, "Mr. Martin and Ms. Sullivan went to sea and may not return until dusk. Mr. Martin will likely come to the hospital at night. Have a good rest, Ms. Scott. You may see him when you're awake."

"They went to sea?" Jenny's face fell. During her years in Korel City, she'd only gone to sea with friends; Joe had never accompanied her. Now, he'd taken Skylar.

"Before he left this morning, Mr. Martin texted me. You don't have to worry about liaising with the hospital; I've made the arrangements. Everything will be fine," Paul said, ignoring her disappointment.

Already pale from surgery, Jenny's lips lost their color. "Joe is really nice to Ms. Sullivan." Their sea trip… how romantic. She yearned for such romance. Were they that close? Did Joe truly love Skylar?

Paul nodded. "She's worthy of it." He rarely expressed such respect for a woman, but Skylar was different. She deserved his admiration; she'd saved him, was capable, kind, and unassuming. It didn't surprise him that Joe liked her.
