Chapter 353
Joe, Skylar, and Jenny cheerfully greeted them. Joe nodded. Skylar smiled and said, "Ms. Scott, you seem to be recovering well."
"It's all thanks to Camilla. She has taken good care of me. How come you two have time to see me today? Didn't you go out to have fun?" Jenny casually scrutinized them both, then smiled subtly.
"He had a meeting today, so I went to the hotel's aquarium for a few hours," Skylar replied.
Jenny asked, surprised, "Skylar, you went alone?"
Skylar smiled. "Yeah."
A wave of gloom lifted from Jenny's heart. "Joe is indeed usually too busy. Skylar, don't be angry at Joe," she said.
Angry? Skylar wondered how Jenny knew she was angry, considering her smile.
"Joe used to be very busy as well. Sometimes, during meals, he would rush off to the airport for business trips on a whim," Jenny continued.
Skylar smiled politely. "Yeah, work is important."
Jenny smiled. "Skylar, you might not know this, but wherever Joe goes, people are subconsciously afraid of him. Once, some of my high school classmates saw Joe. He only glanced at them, but one was so scared he had a nightmare that night. The next day, he told me Joe's look was like a warningโthat if he got any closer to me, Joe would strangle him. I still remember my classmate's pale face."
Was he that jealous?
Skylar glanced at Joe. Was he unhappy seeing male classmates with Jenny? She was confused. What exactly did he think of Jenny?
"That classmate of yours must have overreacted. I'm like that with everyone," Joe said, his tone naturally cold. His timely comment caused Jenny's smile to falter slightly.
Jenny quickly recovered her composure. "Yeah, but my classmate didn't know. Fortunately, after I explained it to him, he felt better and went to school. Otherwise, he wouldn't have dared to go."
"Skylar, what did you think of Joe when you first saw him?" Jenny asked.
Skylar recalled her first encounter. She had been preoccupied with Christopher then. Her initial thought about Joe was probably
"He's more handsome than a movie star, very captivating."
Joe's lips curled slightly as he glanced at Skylar. "So, you wanted to marry me at first sight?"
No way! If she hadn't been reborn, they would be parallel lines, never intersecting.
However, with others present, she smiled brightly. "Indeed, I had such a bold idea."
Jenny secretly clenched her hands. Staring at Joe, she asked, "What about you, Joe? Did you also think of marrying Skylar at first sight?"
Skylar guessed he'd deny it. He'd only married her because of Gloria's request. There was no love at first sight.
"Yeah," Joe replied simply, his brevity speaking volumes.
Jenny's mood visibly wilted. She forced a smile, glancing at her phone to mask her emotions. "So, you two fell in love at first sight."
She'd thought Joe married Skylar only for Gloria, and treated her well for the same reason. But she saw the unspoken current in their gazesโthe deep affection was undeniable. Only couples with feelings would look at each other like that.
The more Jenny thought about it, the more uncomfortable she felt. "Joe, Skylar, have you had lunch? Should I ask Camilla to bring some back from the cafeteria?"
