Chapter 376

Their show always faced a crisis before its happily-ever-after ending. After all, it was designed to mediate conflict; without dilemmas, it wouldn't air.

"The person you're looking for is here!" exclaimed a neighbor.

They immediately turned to the stairwell and saw Skylar. The host rushed to her, bombarding her with questions. "Excuse me, are you Skylar?"

"Do you know what 'image rights' mean? You've entered my home uninvited and without my consent, even filming without permission! Your show isn't unpopular; it lacks a lawyer's letter!" Skylar retorted coldly.

Her gaze swept to the guilty Maisy and sullen Peter. "Do you think you've won by using the media? Are you trying to manipulate me with public opinion? I thought you were inhumane, but you're worse than kennel dogs!"

The firmly locked door clicked open. As Janine appeared, Skylar said hastily, "Mom, close the door. Don't waste your time on these people."

Turning to the host, she continued, "I've called the police, and my lawyer will arrive soon. Your show claims to solve problems, yet you haven't investigated the core issue. Who gave you the right to interfere?"

Skylar only addressed the media after ushering Janine back inside. The host had never encountered such stubbornness.

The show's director and Peter knew each other, and the famous star, Samuel, was one of the Williamses. An affluent family like them wouldn't have hired the show if they had skeletons in their closet. Still, Skylar's demeanor was formidable; her righteous fury made them feel they'd made a huge mistake. Previous participants had never called lawyers or the police.

On her way home, Skylar had called Paul to find a lawyer, then immediately dialed 911. There's no need for courtesy with pests.

There was only one way to deal with them.

"Calling the police and a lawyer isn't the solution, Ms. Sullivan," the host said. "We're here to help you mediate your problems. A mutually beneficial resolution of misunderstandingsโ€”especially within a familyโ€”would be ideal, wouldn't you agree?"

The host was quick-witted. Peter interjected, "Our goal is simply to help. You don't need to be so hostile."

Maisy remained silent. Skylar had compromising information on her. She hadn't wanted to be there, but Peter had insisted she appear to avoid suspicion.

"A goal, you say?" Skylar smirked.

Her phone chimed. It was a text from Joe: "Do you need my help?"
