Chapter 379
Could Skylar afford a house in Jipsburg immediately after getting a job? What was her job? Wasn't she just an unknown employee at Gardner Group?
Peter's eyes widened. Maisy's disbelief was unconcealed. "How is that possible?" she exclaimed.
Skylar remained unfazed, offering no answer. The host, meanwhile, was flustered, unsure how to proceed. A phone call arrived, providing a reprieve. "Yes, Mr. Loid?" she answered.
The host grew increasingly pale as the director spoke. After the call, she turned to Peter, demanding, "Did you or did you not hide something from the show?"
The show, running for over a year, faced its first major crisis. Its future was uncertain.
Peter, still reeling from the revelation about Skylar's homeownership, frowned at the host's accusation. Then, he noticed a man in a suit approaching—Jacky, accompanied by several police officers. Jacky wore gold-rimmed glasses.
"Did you ask for my client's consent to be on this show?" Jacky asked the host. She froze, recognizing him from news reports. Peter was shocked. "Why are you… You're Skylar's lawyer?" he stammered.
Jacky, Martin Group's legal advisor, had somehow been retained by Skylar. "I'm Ms. Sullivan's lawyer," he stated smoothly. "I'll be answering questions on her behalf." His demeanor suggested complete control. He seemed to be implying that those who harmed his client would face consequences.
He then briefed the officers, who, already aware of the situation, addressed the show's staff: "All of you will be making a statement. Filming someone without consent is illegal, even for a show."
The staff and host were stunned. Their arrest would allow competitors to exploit the situation, potentially ending the show.

Suddenly, an officer received a call, his expression turning grim. "Your show has crossed the line!" he barked. "You even harassed her at work? Gardner Group's lawyers are waiting for you at the police station. You're all coming with us."
Only Skylar and Jacky remained calm amidst the chaos. The staff, Peter, and Maisy were speechless, their dismay evident.
Downstairs, the host finally recognized Jacky. "Are you Mr. Lourdes?" she asked.
Jacky gave her a cold glance. "Yes."
The host paled. Skylar hadn't anticipated Jacky's intimidating presence; he had thoroughly frightened Peter and the host.
