Chapter 384

Natalie sent Jeremy a photo and a voice message. The photo showed her finishing work for the day. She hadn't had much to do; mostly serving tea and water during Austin's breaks and assisting the manager as needed. It wasn't tiring at all, plus she got to watch her idol perform up close. She had to admit, Austin's acting skills were incredible; watching him in person was captivating. She was utterly absorbed, even more so than when watching a movie. The other actors, she thought, paled in comparison; they were wasting his time and effort.

She glanced at her phone, wondering what Jeremy was doing, as he hadn't replied to her message asking if he'd be home for dinner. He'd mentioned yesterday that his workload had eased, and he could spend more time at home with her, including having dinner. The workday was almost over, and he usually let her know if he was busy, but he hadn't responded.

Finally, she stood by the roadside, ready to hail a cab.

"Get in, I'll have the driver take you home."

Suddenly, a car stopped. It was Austin's. The window rolled down, revealing his handsome face, distracting Natalie. Stunned, she looked at him in surprise.

"We probably aren't headed the same way, Mr. Powell. I don't want to take up your time, thank you!"

That day's filming location was near her homeโ€”a short cab ride away, but in the opposite direction from Austin's residence. Since it was her first day, she didn't dare ask her boss for a ride.

Austin simply nodded. "Alright."

As the window rolled up and the car drove away, Hank, who was in the car, raised an eyebrow and looked at Austin.

"I can't help but feel you're different around her. She looks young, but she's already married? I heard she and her husband were childhood sweethearts. They got engaged early and married right after college. She's a bright and innocent girl."

Hank's message was clear: Austin should keep his feelings in check. A girl who married right after college would likely be devoted to her husband and wouldn't blur the lines with other men, not even her favorite idol. Natalie had clear boundaries; otherwise, she would have gotten in the car.

Austin glanced at Hank and scoffed, "You're an idiot."

Hank rolled his eyes. "We've known each other since you started working. We spend almost every day together. I know what you're thinking. I didn't expect you to like someone like Natalie. She's innocent, pretty, with a bright and generous personality. She's very likable." If she weren't married, Hank wouldn't mind Austin dating her.

"Wrong. You've never understood me," Austin said calmly.

Hank snorted, "You don't understand me either, so we're even."

As Austin's car drove away, Natalie hailed a cab. Once home, she changed clothes and made dinner. Despite not being very busy, she was starving. Jeremy still hadn't responded, and she didn't want to wait any longer. She decided to eat first. At this point, Natalie hadn't realized she had grown accustomed to Jeremy's absence. She stopped checking for his messages and instead updated Skylar on her day.

After she finished eating, Jeremy called. His voice sounded hoarse.
