"Don't worry," Caleb said confidently. "If they try to cause any trouble, I can call dozens of people here in a minute." He could easily summon reinforcements with a group message. He was eager to see if the Williams family dared to act recklessly afterward.

Skylar's appearance stunned the Williams family's maids, who rushed to inform the family. Entering the villa, Skylar saw nearly the entire Williams family descending the stairs. A laugh bubbled up in her throat. She was amused to find them all waiting for her, lined up single file.

Their expressions were a strange mix of uncertainty and awkwardness. They seemed unsure how to approach Skylar. She was no longer susceptible to coercion and no longer cared about their opinions. Joe's unwavering support had bolstered her confidence, rendering their views irrelevant.

"You're back?" Jeffrey said, his voice strained. He couldn't help but lament that his least favorite daughter had become Joe's favorite. He wished it had been Maisy instead.

Kenny and Maisy wore complex expressions; Maisy, in particular, clenched her fists in silent fury. She truly wished Skylar dead. Peter appeared much milder than before, but his insincerity was evident. Samuel, ever the odd one out, seemed impatient and dismissive, as if Skylar's visit were an inconvenience.

Caleb followed Skylar inside, smirking as he observed the family's forced welcome. Each person wore a mask of forced superiority that couldn't hide their underlying insincerity. He marveled at Skylar's genuine demeanor in contrast to their phoniness. Clinging to their misplaced pride, the Williams family presented a comical sight to Caleb.

Initially unnoticed, Caleb's tall stature and youthful confidence eventually drew attention. His genuineness was a breath of fresh air compared to the calculating gazes of the Williams family, who, despite their efforts, couldn't conceal their true intentions.

"Who is he? Why did you bring a stranger home?" Samuel snapped, his irritation evident.

Caleb clenched his fists. He felt an urge to punch Samuel.

Skylar's voice turned cold. "He's my colleague. Didn't you ask me to visit Mrs. Williams? Are you going to let me see her or not?"

"Skylar, Mom's sleeping right now. Why don't we sit down and chat for a bit? It's been a while since you've been back. We really miss you," Maisy said sweetly. She couldn't help but steal glances at Caleb. He appeared a few years younger than she and Skylar and seemed a refreshing change from the older men she usually dated. A pang of envy shot through her. Skylar always seemed to attract the best men, leaving her with the likes of Christopher. She regretted her entanglement with Christopher.

"Yeah, let's sit down and have a family chat. You've been out of touch since you moved out, and your mother and I have been worried about you," Jeffrey said, adopting a fatherly tone.

Jeffrey's complete turnaround was interesting. Their behavior suggested something more than simply wanting Skylar to quit her job for Sadie. There was more to it.

Meanwhile, Caleb was speechless, dumbfounded by the Williams family's audacity.
