Chapter 44
“Photoshopped?” the group exclaimed simultaneously.
“Yeah! Why would I steal Skylar’s boyfriend? I don’t get it. Why would she do this to me?” Tears trickled down Maisy’s face as she feigned distress.
The three Williams brothers adored Maisy. They immediately found Skylar despicable after Maisy’s explanation.
“I’m going to confront Skylar. I’ll make her post an official social media statement to clear this up right now,” Peter snarled.
Kenny’s face contorted in disgust. “She’s grown bolder and more out of line these days!”
“We should force her to come home and apologize to Maisy!” Samuel added with a scowl.
Sadie listened to her sons before examining the photo on her phone again. It looked too real to be photoshopped. Yet, she believed Maisy, concluding Skylar must be lying.
Even after a deep breath, she felt furious. “That brat is full of problems!”
Maisy continued crying, remaining silent. She knew her family well. The less she spoke, the more pitiful she would appear, making them believe Skylar was at fault. Simultaneously, she wondered if Christopher had lost his mind.
Why would he post about proposing on social media so early? Furthermore, Skylar’s insistence on clarifying they were no longer dating seemed odd.
Maisy wondered when Skylar had discovered her and Christopher’s affair. She had sworn they’d hidden it well.
Peter called Skylar repeatedly, but she didn’t answer. “She has the nerve to ignore my calls!”
“She’s not answering mine either!” Kenny seethed.
“Let me try.” Samuel called Skylar, but she didn’t answer.
The Williams brothers’ faces darkened. Skylar had been actively courting their affection since reuniting with the family, yet now she was ignoring their calls.
Sadie didn’t bother trying, as the brothers’ attempts yielded the same result. She didn’t understand Skylar’s tantrum and refusal to communicate.
The family fell silent. Finally, Samuel spoke, frowning. “We must find her today. If she doesn’t clear up these lies, people will surely expose this scandal to the media if they recognize Maisy from the photo!”
He worked in the entertainment industry and knew how quickly news spread online and through traditional media. There was no telling whether someone had already taken screenshots and created videos on other platforms.
The Williams family was highly reputable in Jipsburg City. They couldn’t risk being involved in a scandal.
Maisy, who hadn’t considered this, widened her eyes at Samuel. “That photo is fake, Samuel! I don’t want to be exposed by the media!”
“Let’s see what happens, then try contacting Skylar again. We must prepare for the worst. I’ll also contact my friends in the media industry for some PR control. Don’t worry, Maisy,” Samuel said, turning to call his friends.
Maisy nodded obediently, but a malicious gleam shone in her eyes as she lowered her head. She knew the photo was not photoshopped.
The Williamses supported her. Samuel’s friends owned media companies, and the Williams family had extensive social connections in Jipsburg City. Maisy could easily control the narrative, leaving Skylar powerless.
Sadie called Jeffrey, but he sounded exasperated and busy. He said he would leave the matter to his sons.
After the call, Sadie felt oddly defeated—an indescribable sensation. However, she attributed it to Skylar’s infuriating behavior.
