Chapter 444
Kenny’s eyes brightened. "Right," he said, "let's ask her for help."
Maisy’s gaze darted away before refocusing on Peter. "I've withdrawn my savings because of what happened to our family," she said. "She should sacrifice something too, shouldn't she?"
Looking at his self-righteous siblings, Peter recalled Skylar's behavior on her last visit home. She had been indifferent, treating them like strangers.
Peter chuckled coldly. "She won't help us," he said. "None of you are allowed to seek her out."
The three exchanged glances. They saw the same thing in each other's eyes: a refusal to struggle for survival like the working class, who slaved away daily, their self-expression stifled. If Peter liked that life, he could live it. But why was Skylar, living a life envied by countless women—making a name for herself in Jipsburg City by relying on Joe—while they were scrambling to pay off a million debts?
They dismissed the idea initially, but decided they would ask Skylar for help no matter what.
Skylar had largely forgotten the Williamses' misfortune, occasionally overhearing colleagues discuss the bankruptcy of one of Jipsburg City's wealthiest families—a situation that likely overshadowed the Williamses' troubles. Paul later informed her of the Williamses' massive debt and their inability to recover. Without Jeffrey's leadership, and with Peter struggling to stay afloat, they posed no threat to Skylar.

However, Skylar was surprised to find herself cornered by Maisy, Samuel, and Kenny as she approached her car after work. Their disdain was evident as they saw her locally manufactured electric car. Why hadn't she gotten a new car after being with Joe for so long? Was she still driving that cheap little car, probably worth less than fifteen thousand dollars?
"Get out of my way," Skylar ordered, staring at Kenny, who was blocking her car.
Kenny, somewhat embarrassed after her scolding, looked awkward. "I'm your older brother, Skylar," he complained.
Maisy, swallowing her pride, begged, "Skylar, our family is in crisis. We're practically homeless and buried in debt. Mom can barely afford her medicine. You've always been kind and loving, and you treat your stepmother like a queen. Can't you help us?" She was reluctant to beg, but equally unwilling to struggle for survival.
Samuel, wanting to berate Skylar for her perceived superiority and her reliance on a man, added, "We're giving you a chance to shoulder our family's hardships. Once the Williamses recover, you'll be a hero."
Skylar glared at Samuel. His stupidity never disappointed her.
"Fuck off," Skylar snarled, pushing Kenny aside. Before he could react, she was in her car.
The three pounded on the windows, screaming at her to get out.
Skylar flipped them off. An idea struck her. She retrieved a video from her phone, placed it against the window, and rolled the window down slightly so they could hear the audio.
