Chapter 449
โMom, Kenny and the Williamses have barred Maisy from their home. She might come home and cling to you. Don't be fooled; she'll only bring trouble. We could face a worse fate than the Williamses," Charles warned. "Besides, Maisy's an adult and should face the consequences of her actions. We owe her nothing, yet she's repeatedly tried to take advantage of you."
He'd called out of concern. Janine felt relieved by his analysis of Maisy's actions and calmed down.
"Alright, I know what to do. Don't worry," she said.
Charles was relieved. Steven had also called Janine, expressing extreme concern after his girlfriend told him about the viral video. Sharing similar worries, they called Skylar after Janine reassured them.
Skylar, however, was engrossed in a concert. The romantic atmosphere and passionate love songs led to many couples embracing, including Skylar and Joe. They were completely absorbed in the moment.
Skylar had silenced her phone, so she missed their calls. Steven and Charles' repeated calls went unanswered, fueling their worries.
"Skye isn't being harassed by those Williamses, is she? I'm worried, Steven. Do you know where she is? If you're free, go see her. I'm filming later, and if I don't hear from Skye, I won't be able to concentrate," Charles said anxiously.
Steven suddenly remembered Joe's number. He called, but there was no answer. He glanced at the clock: nine o'clock. He briefly considered that Skylar and Joe, as a married couple, might beโฆ He stopped himself.
"Don't worry," he said calmly. "You've seen how Skye handled the Williamses. She won't be bullied. She's probably showering or busy. She'll call back when she's free."
Charles, reconsidering his anxiety, replied, "Alright."
Half an hour later, Skylar and Joe returned to their car. Skylar hummed, lost in the concert's memory. Joe smiled, watching her childlike joy. "We'll come again if they give away more tickets," he said.
"That's great!" Skylar exclaimed. She realized that marriage to Joe offered benefits she'd never known, like their premium concert seatsโthey were clearly VIPs.
Getting into the car, she saw numerous missed calls from Steven and Charlesโfrom half an hour ago. She immediately returned their calls.
"Steven, my phone was on silent during the concert. I didn't hear it ring."
Steven paused. "You were at a concert?" He clearly had overreacted.
"Yeah, Jason Crouch," Skylar said casually, her voice hoarse from singing along.
Steven smiled. "Nothing much. Maisy's video is going viral. Be careful."
