Chapter 47

"Serves them right," Skylar said. "Why are you still here?"

Caleb should have left work an hour ago. He scratched his head. "I was afraid you'd be upset."

"He's not worth it. Go. I have a hospital visit to make." Skylar grabbed her bag and headed out.

Caleb followed. "Are you sure you're okay, Skylar?"

"Of course."

In the car, Joe reviewed his to-do list. He'd planned to work overtime, but with Gloria in the hospital, he was finishing his work en route.

Paul, while working, received an Instagram notification. It was Skylar's post from that morning. More importantly, he saw Maisy's Facebook post: a screenshot of a legal letter and a statement claiming Skylar's photograph was photoshopped. The Williams Group had reshared it.

He immediately checked Facebook. The situation had drastically changed. They were all attacking Skylar, even exposing her photo! He blurted out, "Isn't Ms. Sullivan Jeffrey's biological daughter? Who are her parents? Or is Maisy their biological daughter?"

Joe, engrossed in his work, looked up. Paul explained the situation.

Paul concluded, "Ms. Sullivan can't handle the Williams family's PR and legal teams alone."

Joe examined the legal letter and screenshots. His cold gaze sent chills down Paul's spine, even though they worked closely together.

"Gather proof of Christopher and Maisy's relationship and give it to me."

"Right away."

Chapter 47 (continued)

Skylar received a call from Janine while approaching the hospital.

"Skye, where are you? Should I come? Or you can come home. Your brothers are back. Harvey's at the dorm for two days. Being with family might help." Janine's voice was gentle.

"I'm visiting Grandma Gloria. I'll be late. Have dinner without me. And Mom, you've probably seen the online news. Don't worry, it's nothing." Skylar understood Janine's call.

Janine sighed in relief. "Okay. We'll wait for you."

Meanwhile, at the Yancey Residence, Steven and Charles checked their phones, watching the trending topic climb the charts. Charles glanced at Janine in the kitchen, frowning. "They hired a professional PR team, Steven."

Steven's expression was grim. "Stay calm. I've contacted friends; they're working on a solution."

Charles nodded. This wouldn't be easy. Christopher had cheated, but the online public wouldn't believe it. The Williamses' swift counterattack—likely prepared as soon as Skylar posted—was effective.

"They don't deserve to be Skye's parents," Charles said angrily. "What parent would treat their daughter like that? Skye must be miserable."

Steven received a message from their group chat. The proposed solution? Skylar should apologize and minimize the damage.
