Chapter 490
Austin's concern for Natalie intensified her tears. She had lied to him; she wasn't ill, but her heart ached terribly.
"Thanks, Mr. Powell. I'll rest," she said.
Despite speaking by phone, Austin detected an unusual tone. Was she crying?
"Are you alright? If you have any problems, talk to me," he said gently.
Natalie glanced at Skylar, who was holding her. Wiping her tears, she replied, "I'm fine, Mr. Powell. I'll return to work when I recover. Thank you for your concern."
Austin didn't press further. He sensed Natalie's reluctance to discuss it and fell silent after the call ended. He pondered Hank's report from the previous night: Jeremy had called, inquiring about Natalie's whereabouts.
A sudden thought struck him: Had Natalie discovered something? Or were they having a typical marital disagreement?
Skylar softly comforted Natalie. "Don't be scared, Nath. I'll be with you, whatever you decide."
Natalie stared intently at the door. "Take a photo of them. I want evidence. I want a divorce, Skylar. I want to divorce him."
She could never face Jeremy again. The video replayed in her mind, the vile scenes making her nauseous.
"Alright, let's wait for them to come out so we can take a picture."
A few minutes later, Jeremy emerged with Annabelle. Annabelle's face was pale, perhaps due to her pregnancy. Jeremy's jaw was clenched.
Natalie, calmer than Skylar anticipated, snapped several pictures. Before Skylar could react, Natalie sprinted toward Jeremy and Annabelle, stopping before them and slapping Jeremy across the face.
"Oh! Mr. Hughes!" Annabelle exclaimed.
Jeremy initially mistook her for a random assailant, but then recognized Natalie. Ignoring Annabelle, she glared at Jeremy with hatred. "Jeremy, I misjudged you! You cheated on me!"
The truth was undeniable. Natalie felt like Jeremy was a stranger, or that she'd never truly known him.
Jeremy's face paled, his eyes darting nervously. "Nath…" he began.
Natalie's hatred was unconcealed. "Don't call my name! It makes me nauseous! Jeremy, do you think lying to me is fun?"
She loathed him, his lies and betrayal.
Seeing her disdain, Jeremy panicked. "Natalie, listen. What you're seeing isn't the whole truth. I haven't cheated. You're the only one I've ever loved!"
He'd always been discreet. How had Natalie found out?
