"You're back?" Joe asked.

Skylar hummed emotionlessly.

Joe glared at her icy attitude before averting his gaze. He raised an eyebrow. "Are you in a bad mood?"

Skylar cut to the chase. "You knew about Jeremy's affair all along, didn't you?"

Joe was caught off guard but quickly understood. "Has Natalie found out?"

"You knew long ago, right?" Skylar asked. "Do you all enjoy going out with your mistresses?" She didn't believe Joe would be any different. Thankfully, she only liked him slightly; otherwise, her heart would be as broken as Natalie's. Still, she felt bad.

Joe's gaze darkened. "I did know about it. Are you overthinking this?" He wondered if she'd been glaring at him with disdain—she seemed on the verge of tattooing "fuck off" across her forehead.

"I wasn't," Skylar responded coldly. "I'm tired. I'll be sleeping in the guest room tonight." She climbed the stairs without looking back.

A migraine threatened. How would she handle a mistress knocking at the door? What if the mistress demanded she leave? She needed a plan.

Joe furrowed his brows and followed. "Jeremy is Jeremy, and I am myself. You can't treat us the same. He only got together with Annabelle recently. He would have broken up with her if Natalie hadn't discovered them."

Skylar stopped. "They might have broken up, but that doesn't mean they never dated. Since Natalie found out, they hadn't separated. I know your relationship with Jeremy. You're defending him from your perspective, and there's nothing wrong with that. However, I don't think the past will be erased just because he broke up with her. Perhaps our moral standards aren't aligned; it's normal for our beliefs to differ. I hope there won't be any mistresses causing a fuss in the future. If you fall for someone, tell me, so our divorce won't be messy."

Joe understood her implication: she equated him with Jeremy. In the past, they had been similar, prioritizing their careers over women. But Jeremy had lost his mind after being seduced by his secretary—something Joe couldn't explain until now.

"There won't be any mistresses. I won't fall for another woman. My heart is locked, and the key is gone."

Joe's face fell. Her words didn't match her actions. "Come back to the master bedroom," he said, sweeping her into his arms. It was one thing to sleep separately when she wasn't home, but she was home.

Surprised, Skylar exclaimed, "Put me down!"

Joe felt he needed to make her understand. "Didn't you say you were tired? Let me help you shower."

Skylar's face paled. Was he going to bathe her? "N-No need. I can do it myself."

"Just in case someone thinks I have another woman, I must prove I'm not dating anyone else tonight."

Skylar had no chance to refuse. Joe stripped her clothes off within seconds.
