Chapter 504

"Yeah, my job's pretty boring," Skylar said. "Do you ride motorcycles, too?"

Simona's eyes lit up. She hadn't realized the topic had shifted. "Yeah, I do. I'm pretty good at it, too. Maybe not as good as Caleb, but I definitely won't hold him back."

"That's awesome!" Skylar nodded approvingly.

Simona blushed. "Don't you think riding motorcycles is kind of unproductive?"

"Not at all. It's just a hobby," Skylar replied casually. "My hobby is watching variety shows and TV dramas. Isn't that even less productive? It's all good as long as it makes you happy and doesn't harm anyone or put you in danger."

Simona's eyes lit up again. "Skylar, I've been watching a dating variety show lately, and I'm interested in this couple. The male lead rides a motorcycle! He's super cool!"

Skylar smiled. "I watch that show, too. I like the male lead"

Just then, Caleb emerged from the restroom. He checked a message from his friend on WhatsApp and dashed out of the building. He feared Skylar might be in trouble.

He returned, shouting at Simona. "Simona, I've told you before. I don't like you, and it has nothing to do with anyone else. You're just a friend to me." He stepped forward and pulled Skylar behind him protectively. He cherished the woman he loved and wouldn't let anyone bully her, not even his friend. He would defend Skylar against anyone who dared to.

Simona was stunned. "What are you doing?" she asked.

"Don't think you can bully Skylar just because she's nice," Caleb said, glaring at Simona with a guarded expression. "Haven't you listened to anything I've said? When I tell you I don't like you, I mean it. You're just a friend."

Caleb had known Simona for years and was well aware of her fiery temper. Furthermore, her brother, Leonard Parkinson's unsavory background, added to his concern. If she chose to, she could make someone's life miserable in countless ways.

Skylar snapped out of it. "Simona wasn't bullying me."

Simona pushed Caleb aside with an annoyed look. "What's wrong with you? I was just chatting with Skylar, and you came barging in. You're my friend, and she's like a sister to me. What's the issue? Go do your own thing. We're planning to hang out, so don't interrupt us. You're really being a nuisance!"

Caleb was stunned. What had happened? How had he become a nuisance?

He turned to Skylar, confused. "She wasn't bullying you?"

"Bullying me? Simona is friendly and kind. Why would she bully anyone?" Skylar replied, her tone questioning.

Simona rubbed her nose, feeling a bit guilty. She was actually quite good at bullying people, but she didn't want Skylar to know that. She didn't want Skylar to discover her true nature; she was afraid Skylar would dislike her. She had finally met someone she genuinely liked and wanted to make a good impression on. None of the women who had pursued Caleb had ever gained her approval.

"Skylar, let's exchange WhatsApp contacts first," Simona said. "We can plan to hang out later."

"Sure," Skylar said with a smile.

Caleb was completely ignored.

After Simona left, Caleb turned to Skylar. "She really didn't threaten you? Why else would you say she's kind?"
