Chapter 505

If Simona was considered kind, then there were no kind people left in the world. Under Leonard's influence, Simona could be quite ruthless.

Skylar smiled and said, "Simona's not bullying me. She's actually a good person. Otherwise, you wouldn't be such good friends with her, right? Let's go." Caleb was still confused. He nodded slowly and replied, "Yeah, it makes sense." However, he still felt something was amiss.

About half an hour later, upon reaching Gardner Manor, Caleb realized what had bothered him. He wondered if Simona was trying to keep Skylar away from him.

"Damn it!" Caleb muttered. He wouldn't let Simona see Skylar again.

Skylar hadn't visited Gloria in a while. After work, she decided to see her. They had dinner together and watched a variety show. They enjoyed each other's company immensely.

During the show, Gloria complained about her friend, Beatrice Shortle. Gloria and Beatrice had recently attended an auction together. Beatrice had been calling Gloria incessantly, wanting to visit Pearlhall Residence. She kept bragging about her granddaughter, who had just returned from abroad with numerous awards and was now a famous violinist.

Gloria scoffed. "Does she think I can't see through her? She just wants to match her granddaughter with Joe. Dream on! I remember meeting that girl a few years ago. Despite her young age, she was full of malice. She looked down on the maid. When she saw me, she acted sweet and innocent. I don't like her, and Joe wouldn't give her a second look either. I already have you as my granddaughter-in-law, Skye. No one else compares to you."

Seeing Gloria so agitated, Skylar chuckled. "In your eyes, I'm perfect."

In truth, she knew she wasn't perfect. Gloria might see her through rose- colored glasses because of her friendship with Viola. But genuine affection begets genuine affection. Skylar was determined to be sincerely devoted to Gloria.

By evening, it was too late for Skylar to leave. She decided to stay at Pearlhall Residence, having informed Joe beforehand. However, she didn't expect him to come as well.

When he arrived, Skylar had just finished showering. She was surprised to see Joe standing in the room as she dried her hair. "Aren't you supposed to be busy today?"

Considering the distance from his company, Skylar wondered why he'd come.

With one hand in his pocket, Joe's cool gaze swept over her, tinged with deeper meaning. "I came to visit Grandma."

"Oh," Skylar replied. For a second, she thought he had come to see her. She realized she was being presumptuous and lowered her head.

Meanwhile, in another part of Pearlhall Residence, Edgar watched Gloria finish her medicine.

Gloria said, "Joe can't stand to be apart from Skye for a single day. He said he came to see me, but has he spoken more than two words to me?" she teased with a mischievous smile.

Edgar chuckled. "It's clear to everyone that Mr. Martin is truly fond of Mrs. Martin."

"I'm just worried he doesn't realize it himself," Gloria said. She thought Joe was great but lacked emotional insight.

"Mr. Martin will figure it out. Besides, Mrs. Martin cares for him too. Whenever I visit Galaxy Villa, I see how meticulously she manages it. She clearly treats Galaxy Villa as her home," Edgar replied.

Gloria nodded. "Neither of them has had it easy."

"They've come far"
