Chapter 524
Charles's expression overflowed with pride as he spoke. Initially, he didn't understand Skylar's job when she mentioned working on Alexander's team. However, after confirming it with Steven, he realized how impressive it was. He couldn't help but feel proud of his talented sister.
"Mr. Gardner Senior's team?" Brigham asked after Charles.
Only after Charles spoke did Brigham react. His eyes widened in surprise as he looked at Skylar. "There's only one Mr. Gardner Senior in Jipsburg City. Are you on his team?"
People in Jipsburg City, especially antique and painting collectors, knew Alexander's reputation. He was known to be discerning, accepting only those with genuine skills. Joining his team meant being among the industry's best. Leaving to work at an auction house would command several times the usual compensation; they'd be competing for her services.
No wonder Skylar didn't need the entertainment industry; this was a genuine skill. Brigham felt incredibly lucky to have chosen Charles as the second male lead.
Skylar smiled and nodded. "Yes, I'm currently on Mr. Gardner Senior's team."
"At such a young age! You're incredibly talented. Charles, your sister is remarkable," Brigham exclaimed, turning to Charles.
Charles scratched his head, happier about Skylar's praise than his own. "Skylar's been smart since she was young."
As they talked, the crew brought dinner. Brigham felt embarrassed by the simple meal.
"Uh, how about I take you both to a restaurant?" he suggested.
Charles, rarely seeing Brigham so accommodating, felt uneasy. "No need. The crew's boxed meals are fine."
"I haven't tried them yet; I'd like to," Skylar added.
Brigham didn't insist. He was even more impressed by Charles and Skylar's personalities. Skylar, so young, was not only more beautiful than most female celebrities but also genuinely talented.
Even casually chatting, Skylar identified a small object Brigham was fiddling with as belonging to a particular dynasty, recounting its intriguing history. Brigham was dumbfounded, afraid of being ridiculed for his lack of knowledge. He suddenly envisioned Skylar as a consultant for future period dramas, ensuring historical accuracy.
When the painting arrived, Brigham carefully unfolded it before Skylar. She examined it closely as a nervous Brigham watched. While $50 million wasn't much to him, a forgery was unacceptable. Charles was also nervous; this was his first time seeing Skylar at work. She was truly outstanding. He himself wouldn't have noticed anything beyond the painting's artistic merit.
After a thorough examination, Skylar spoke slowly. "It's authentic, not a forgery. However, there are a few areas where the color has been touched up. The touch-ups are poorly done; you can see it upon closer inspection."
"Mr. Cohen, take a look hereand here," Skylar said, pointing out the areas.
Brigham was astonished. "If you hadn't pointed it out, I wouldn't have noticed. Skylar, you're amazing! Let me know how much this appraisal costs. I'll transfer the funds immediately."
