Chapter 55

"Yes, that's her. You know, I think she might be even better than you, Grandpa!" Caleb didn't think he was exaggerating.

Daniel had told him he'd encountered many restorers. Although they seemed arrogant, their practical skills were average and couldn't compare with Skylar's. He'd asked Skylar about her mentor, and she'd only said she'd learned from an elderly woman in the countryside.

Alexander didn't believe Caleb. After all, Caleb had been more of a wild child; most people he knew didn't take their work seriously, and he often praised people indiscriminately. Furthermore, claiming Skylar was better than many experienced restorers, despite her young age, seemed far-fetched.

Alexander waved his hand dismissively. "Hurry up and leave. You're getting in my way."

"Grandpa, I wake up early every day to run six miles to catch the bus. My thighs are getting muscular! Please have pity on me and return my car keys," Caleb pleaded.

Alexander remained firm. "Leave."

Fearing another beating, Caleb quickly left.

At the Williams residence, Maisy, not an early riser, had been considering the online situation and set an early alarm. She worried Skylar might have real evidence. However, the Williams family, with their professional PR and legal teams, could easily counter Skylar. Her only concern was her secret involvement with Christopher, which made her uneasy. She was also unsure why Christopher hadn't done as she'd asked.

She called Christopher. "Why haven't you posted anything on Facebook? This will end once you deny any involvement with me," she said.

Christopher hadn't slept all night, constantly checking his phone for Skylar's call, but she hadn't returned it. Maisy's call was unexpected.

"The company knows. They've asked me not to come to work. I might lose my job! I can't just thoughtlessly deny this on Facebook. I want to see what Skylar does next. She's always loved me most; I don't think she'll push me to a dead end." Christopher still believed he could salvage things with Skylar. As long as he wasn't caught with Maisy, he could regain her trust.

Maisy was speechless. "This isn't about a Facebook post. Isn't she obedient to you? Can't you coax her later? Do you want her to ruin my reputation?"

Christopher, unable to bear Maisy's distress, conceded. "Hm… Alright, then." Maisy was right; he could coax Skylar later; she was easily persuaded.

Skylar tried to post, but found her accounts blocked; she'd been reported. Her face fell. "They'll stop at nothing to hinder my plans."

She took a deep breath. Her phone rang—Steven. "Why haven't you posted the videos?" he asked.

Skylar explained the account suspension. Steven was silent, his brow furrowed.
