Chapter 567
Joe woke up at Rowan's place, momentarily disoriented. He wasn't at Galaxy Villa. Rowan stood at the door with a cup of water. "I told Paul you'd be late. What happened? I've never seen you drink like that before. Do you treat alcohol like water?"
Joe got out of bed, ignoring Rowan's questions. "Where's the bathroom?" he asked coldly.
"Over there."
While Joe showered, Rowan ordered breakfast. It arrived before Joe emerged. He had no appetite and headed for the door. "You eat it."
"I ordered a lot. Won't you eat some? There's Wiscadian and Floan cuisine," Rowan said.
"I'm not interested."
"Jenny messaged—she'll be back in a month. Where will she stay?" Rowan asked. Jenny's message implied she wanted to stay at Galaxy Villa.
Jenny hadn't been explicit, but she had no relatives in Jipsburg City. She'd previously stayed at Pearlhall Residence, then in the school dormitory. She only returned during school breaks. After nearly four years of college, she rarely visited Jipsburg. Returning for work, she'd need a place to stay.
At the door, Joe glanced at Rowan. "She's an adult. I gave her a house when she turned eighteen. That should suffice." He'd fulfilled all his promises to Jenny's mother.
Rowan was stunned. "Are you going to leave her alone? Isn't that unsafe for a young woman? Galaxy Villa is spacious; she could stay there."
Joe's eyes darkened. Rowan quickly realized his mistake. "I was just suggesting… I overstepped."
"Galaxy Villa is my marital home with Skylar. Do you think there's room for a third person?" Joe retorted coldly.
Rowan's expression changed. As the door closed, he muttered a curse. "Skylar is more important to Joe than Jenny. Jenny's just a promise to him. It's a pity; she still doesn't realize it and is determined to pursue him." Rowan frowned deeply.
A few minutes later, Jenny called. "Joe was at your place. Shouldn't he be at Galaxy Villa? Why was he drinking so much? Are other women allowed near him? Has something happened between him and Skylar?"
Jenny's barrage of questions left Rowan unsure how to respond. "I'm not sure what's happening between Joe and Skylar. The woman with him yesterday is a friend. Jenny, let go of these thoughts. You and Joe aren't meant to be," he advised kindly.
Jenny was silent. "Some things can't be ignored. You should understand how I feel about him." She didn't understand why Joe married Skylar. What did he like about her—just her looks and figure?
Rowan was speechless. "Obsession isn't good. Joe gave you a house at eighteen. Give me the key and your preferred style; I can renovate it for you."
"I… I don't want to live there. There must be room at Galaxy Villa, right?" Jenny's voice was subdued.
"I tested Joe, and he said he'd given you a house. But Galaxy Villa is only for him and Skylar. No room for a third person. I think Joe knows how you feel. Think carefully," Rowan advised.
