Chapter 586
Joe went straight to Skylar's bed. Alexander and Harry, who both knew him, simultaneously asked, "Joe?"
Joe scrutinized Skylar. He'd never seen her so pale. Her breathing was weak, as if
"Come over and take a look," Joe said to Howard.
Howard nodded and somberly approached. Joe stepped back and greeted Alexander and Harry: "Mr. Gardner Senior, Mr. Solarius Senior."
Alexander said remorsefully, "I didn't protect Skylar properly. That's why she's in this condition."
"It's not Alexander's fault. It's mine," Harry said hurriedly. "I caused this."
Blaming others wouldn't be wise. Moreover, Skylar had chosen to come to Liberty County herself, and Joe knew she wouldn't blame them. They were distraught as well.
"You don't have to blame yourselves," Joe replied. "We should focus on getting Skylar to wake up."
She'd fallen unconscious without any obvious reason. This was the worst health crisis she'd ever faced, far exceeding anything she'd experienced before.
Joe stared at the unconscious Skylar. "She'll be fine," he murmured. "I won't let anything happen to her."
Howard examined Skylar, reviewing her medical history and reports. His expression grew serious.
Silence filled the ward. Everyone looked at Howard. Paul, watching from outside the room, could see Skylar.
His heart sank at the sight of her pale face—far worse than he'd imagined. How could those evil artifacts be so powerful? They'd harmed her before anyone could react!
Chapter 586 (continued)
After a moment, Howard said, "Mr. Martin, let's discuss this outside."
Joe's gaze hardened. "Alright," he replied.
Alexander and Harry exchanged glances, sensing the gravity of the situation. Skylar was critically ill.
In the corridor, Howard said quietly, "Mr. Martin, Skylar is in grave condition. While outwardly she appears normal, her body temperature is extremely abnormal. No medical intervention is possible. Currently, she's essentially in a vegetative state."
Joe clenched his jaw. "Find a way to save her, no matter what. Can I take her back to Jipsburg?"
He would do anything to save her once they returned to Jipsburg.
Howard nodded. "You can. However, be prepared for anything on the way back. I've never encountered a patient like this."
He'd never believed in black magic, but now realized his understanding was superficial. His considerable medical expertise couldn't explain Skylar's condition, nor the cause of her unconsciousness. He felt helpless.
Joe stood silently in the corridor, the few minutes feeling like an eternity. Paul waited for his instructions.
"Paul, prepare everything. We're taking Mrs. Martin back to Jipsburg," Joe ordered.
"Right away, sir. I'll make the necessary arrangements immediately," Paul replied.
Joe returned to the ward, sitting by Skylar's bed and watching her lifeless form. A few minutes later, he addressed Alexander and Harry. "I'm taking her back to Jipsburg. Once she wakes up, she can return to finish what she hasn't completed."
Alexander and Harry, calmed by Joe's assurance after hours of panic, felt a sense of relief. Skylar would be alright. Joe wouldn't let anything happen to her. They hoped for a miracle in Jipsburg.
