Skylar was stunned. "I don't think so," she said. "I've always been like this. Your palm is probably too warm. Men usually have a higher body temperature than women."

Why was Joe so preoccupied with the temperature of her hand?

Skylar asked, "Aren't you going to pick Jenny up?"

Joe replied expressionlessly, "Rowan will pick her up. Let's go to the Pearlhall Residence to see Grandma."

"Oh, alright."

At the airport, Jenny's face paled when Joe hung up on her. "Busy? What could Joe be busy with? Shouldn't he be excited to see me?"

She had never wanted Rowan to pick her up; she only wanted Joe. It would have been convenient for moving into Galaxy Villa.

Jenny had been attending university in Korel City for four years and hadn't returned once. She wanted Joe to visit occasionally so everyone in Jipsburg would know she held a special place in his heart. She also believed distance made the heart grow fonder, hoping to increase his adoration.

However, she certainly hadn't planned for him to marry silently. A barrier seemed to exist between them, worse than when she was in Korel City.

Tears welled up in Jenny's eyes. Even after collecting her baggage, she didn't leave.

Finally, she called Rowan. "Rowan, I'm back. Can you pick me up at the airport?"

Rowan arrived quickly. The moment Jenny saw him, she fell into his arms, sobbing. "Rowan, Joe doesn't care about me anymore! I thought he'd be ecstatic, that he'd drop everything to pick me up. He didn't even come."

Rowan froze, then consoled her. "He's probably busy and couldn't fetch you. Isn't it the same for me?"

How was Joe better than him? Jenny had fallen for him despite knowing their relationship was impossible.

Jenny cried and shook her head. "I'm happy you came, but I don't understand how he's so calm knowing I'm back. It's like my arrival is just another day. I'm a stranger to him. He used to treat me so well before Skylar. Why is he so cold now?"

Skylar was the source of it all. The moment she saw Skylar in Korel City, she knew things would change against her will. And everything turned out as she'd expected.

Rowan sighed helplessly. "Let's not think about that. It's useless and will only affect your mood." He continued, "I'll take you back to my place. I'll live elsewhere while you stay at mine. The renovations to your house will be finished soon. I'll make sure the smell is gone before you move back in."

Jenny nodded. "Alright, I'll do as you say." It was her only option.

After getting into Rowan's car, Jenny changed her mind. "Can you take me to Pearlhall Residence? I want to see Mrs. Martin Senior. I haven't seen her in years. Since I'm back, I should visit her."

Rowan had no objections. "Alright, I'll visit her too. I haven't seen her in a while."

Jenny added, "Let's stop at a mall to buy some jewelry. Mrs. Martin Senior loves them."

Jenny felt she had to cater to Gloria's preferences.

After buying the jewelry, they headed toward Pearlhall Residence. Joyful chatter reached them as helpers led them into the mansion. Rowan and Jenny rarely heard Gloria laugh so freely.

They heard a voice that sounded like Skylar's. Was she there, too?
