Chapter 647
“Who the hell are you? I’m going to report this to the police, and then I’ll sue you into bankruptcy!” Christopher roared.
The man remained silent, continuing to beat Christopher.
Skylar, an expert in acupuncture points, recognized the man's professionalism. His punches, though seemingly brutal, caused no lasting damage. Christopher looked half-dead, but Skylar knew he would recover.
“Please leave, miss,” the man finally said, addressing Skylar. His demeanor shifted dramatically from his ruthlessness toward Christopher to a surprising gentleness towards her.
Skylar glanced at the bruised Christopher, her concern evident. “I think I’d prefer to stay as an eyewitness,” she suggested.
“He doesn’t look like a good man. We were here when he started cornering you. I’ll be the eyewitness. I promise everything will be alright,” a voice said from behind.
Skylar turned to see a man. Feeling fortunate to have encountered such kindness, she gave them her number before leaving.
As she drove away, Christopher screamed, “You’ve changed! You watched me get beaten and even offered to be their eyewitness! You never would have let anyone hurt me before!”
“Next time you see me, walk the other way,” Skylar responded.
Chapter 647
“Skylar, have you forgotten our promise?” Christopher asked.
He couldn’t reconcile the absence of love in her eyes—a stark contrast to her former adoration. Now, only hatred shone through.
“Shut up!” A hand clamped over Christopher’s mouth.
As Skylar drove past, she retorted, “You treated our promises as meaningless. How dare you question me?”
Christopher’s eyes flickered. He quickly changed the subject. “No, I didn't ignore our promises. I strayed, fell into a trap. Maisy seduced me, and I fell for it. I’ve woken up now, I swear. I’ll never betray you again!”
“Get lost,” Skylar roared, speeding away.
After she left, Christopher raged, “I’m calling the police! I won’t let you get away with this! Why did you interfere? You won’t get off so easily!”
“You’ve been meddling where you shouldn’t. You’re asking for trouble. Come with us.”
“Go with you?”
“Stop the bullshit.”
Ten minutes later, Christopher was forced into a van, given no opportunity to refuse. He trembled uncontrollably as the van sped off, fearing he was being trafficked—a chillingly familiar scenario given his own past actions. He felt utterly helpless.
Suddenly, a terrifying realization dawned on him: these men weren't Good Samaritans. This was a planned attack!
The thought sent a fresh wave of terror through him. “Who are you? What are you doing? This is Jipsburg. There are police everywhere! You’ll be caught!”
The men, who had been polite to Skylar, now fell silent. Terror consumed Christopher. He pleaded, “Fucking hell, who are you? What are you doing?”
