Chapter 685

Others in Jipsburg might not have known about the Martin family, but Aiken had a sense of their undercurrents. Edwin and Joe had a strained relationship. Paul said, "Mr. Martin said you can set whatever price you want. We just want news of Skylar's whereabouts."

Aiken ceased speculating about the Martins. He closed his book, stood, and said, "I'll update you soon."

When Skylar awoke, she was disoriented and weak, shivering and summoning every ounce of strength to open her eyes. The world swam, then solidified into a horrifying realization: she'd been kidnapped. A bright light seared her eyes, forcing an immediate closure.

She recalled the injection before losing consciousness; that explained her limpness. Her movements were minimal, silent, perhaps why her awakening went unnoticed.

A voice said, "Set up another camera over there. Remember, all angles. Don't miss any action. When she wakes up, give her the drug. It can't look forced; it must seem initiated."

Another voice replied, "Don't worry. We've filmed many videos. Enough tactics and positions for a whole movie."

"This is the first time I've met such a beautiful woman. No makeup, and she's gorgeous. I can't stand it anymore!"

"Ha! You're pathetic!"

"Just don't kill her accidentally. Have your way with her, but don't kill her."

"She's gorgeous, with an excellent figure. How could we kill her? We'll take our time. Don't worry; we'll film a video that satisfies you!"

Their conversation deteriorated. Hearing their words, Skylar's heart sank; she understood her fate. In Jipsburg, a city teeming with police, they dared commit such heinous crimes. But now wasn't the time for that. Drugged and weak, escape was impossible. She could only feign unconsciousness, delaying the inevitable.

Hours had passed since she left; she hadn't reached Pearlhall Residence. Joe and Gloria would surely notice something was wrong. She needed to delay, calm herself, and regain strength.

The men's voices grew louder, their restraint failing.

"Why hasn't she woken up? Did you inject too much?"

"A normal dose. Shouldn't be a problem. She should be awake. She's terribly unhealthy, otherwise she'd be awake by now."

"Let me check."

A man approached. Skylar remained still, showing no signs of consciousness. He checked her breathing; even breaths brought a sigh of relief.

"She's fine. If we can't wait, let's start. We'll edit the footage later. I can't stand it anymore!"

"Me too! I can't hold back. She's too gorgeous. If I had such a girlfriend, I'd lock her up every day."

"Alright, cameras on. Masks."

Excitement filled them as they donned masks. Skylar's fists clenched; her heart pounded faster than it ever had facing Maisy and Christopher before her rebirth.

As the cameras whirred to life, Skylar opened her eyes, meeting the gaze of the approaching men. They froze.
